People are over reacting. We never proven to get great players with Max money. It's hard to win a championship anyway. Harder in this day and age cause all the stars team up. Im indifferent. But people are acting super dramatic like he can't improve. Like we won't have money next year. It's only four years. And everyone on the Lauri bandwagon. He's no guarantee to become a star. You need as many chances to find a star and lavine is another ping pong ball

So a few more questions..If we don't match..

Do we still have a salary floor we need to reach? What is that number?

If we do not match...just how much cap space will we have? 3 max spots?

Derrick Rose rated better. Let that sink in.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

For the record, I still think he’s most likely going to be a Jamal Crawford type of player, but I hate losing assets.

That's not good either.

Jamal Crawford is a terrible basketball player and has been throughout his career.

A 3x 6th man of the year is a terrible basketball player???????

No....he isn't.

The Bulls are matching this. I'm ok with it too.

His last two years are better than anything Lavine has ever done. Yes, he's better.

Lavine is not and has never been one of the best 200 players in the NBA. Hell, going by espn's real plus minus even in his third season, which was objectively his best, he was 388th. Vonleh was 389th, so he's got that going for him.

So you're telling me Tim Hardaway Jr.’s age 25 and 26 seasons are better than anything a 20 and 21 year old Lavine has done?

Shocking.

I'm telling you that most players in the NBA is better than Lavine. He's a very bad basketball player.

If this happens I'm done for awhile. Would be the low point of my fandom probably post Jordan. I think quite a few people around 25-40 would think the same thing.

I'm 40. This is nowhere close to a low point for me.

Post dynasty? Kornell David? Khalid El-Amin?

That's how you low point....

He's been a low IQ chucker his entire career.

He isn't conducive to winning basketball.

His only 'good' season was 2009-2010.

I hope the Bulls decline to match, Lavine is virtually the same player he was three years ago. He hasn't shown any significant margin of improvement and he will probably never defend his position at higher than a below average level. Paying him 80 million dollars will be exactly that, the Bulls will pay every cent of that contract because he will be impossible to move.

After a long pause, I would probably match.

The thing is I cant put my personal feelings concerning money in this case. Its the market. When you have 5 years 146 million going to Wiggans, the 4/80 to Zach looks like chicken feed.

I realize currently he has his flaws but I hope that now he has his security, he can play a team game. That he can work on his passing, his defense etc.

That fact that he is still a baby just 23 years old not 24 till next March, Id keep him.

Judging players per 36 is a flawed concept.

Yeah, if they match it will be top 5 low points. That first ACL tear for Rose was worse. The series loss to the sixers. This may come in third right behind those.

It honestly has me questioning if I'm going to bother following them. I've already decided I'm not renewing league pass. And they're going to be horrible by featuring Lavine so they'll never be on national TV. I most likely will out of habit, I just can't understand the mind boggling stupidity of throwing money at this player.

Yea fair enough. But the Baby Bulls and Rose years took a lot out of me. Was starting at a much higher enthusiasm level post Dynasty.

This type of logic makes no sense.
