Word is that the only possible deals for Parker would have to include a bad money contract that extends beyond next year. No! I'd just as soon waive him or DNP him the rest of the season. Why compound one bad move with another? Cut your losses.

I wonder if/when Wash will tank - as such, I'd welcome a deal for Porter. I wonder if Hutch, Portis and expirings could get it done? We could take back Mahinmi's deal too:
Porter, Mahinmi for Parker, RoLo, Portis and Hutch...it takes us out of the FA market, but we'd have our starting SF and back-up C and we'd keep our 1st this year.

Boston has too much depth and not enough minutes to go around. I wonder what it'd cost to pry away Jaylen Brown from them.

He's struggling right now, but he's still a good young player (22 years old). I bet it would take more than The Bulls would be willing to give up.

Couple issues with that. The Anthony Davis sweepstakes Ainge is waiting on and Ainge wanting to absolutely kill and win every trade. It's really difficult.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

My issue with that idea is that as you said, they're deep, they're probably looking to consolidate, especially with the abundance of picks they own this year (4 1st's). Unless we're willing to part with Lauri, I don't see us being a good trade partner. But I agree, you'd definitely think he'd be available at this point.

I see this sentiment repeated a lot by many including journalists, etc. "The Celtics have the best collection of young players and picks out there." I suppose if you include Tatum perhaps. Otherwise, you have:
- Jaylen Brown, underwhelming, even in his "breakout" year last year was a complementary player, and is in year 3 so about to get a lot more expensive.
- Memphis and Sacramento picks, one of which looks to be low lottery and the other in the playoffs. Even if both are low lottery, you're looking at what - a 2-5% chance of a top pick? And if it's Sac at #1 it goes to PHL?
- Rozier who's about to hit RFA and is another complementary player?
Is a combo of that really enticing the Pelicans? Would they really want that over say Lauri (more attractive from age, performance, skills, contract than Brown), Bulls #1 (much higher than either of the MEM/SAC picks)? Unless NO has a hardon for Hayward, I don't see it. And that's before you factor in Ainge insisting on something like unprotected future firsts to make sure he wins the deal. The real competition IMO is LAL who can offer Ingram & Ball, but even that given Ingram in yr3 and neither really showing out as a potential franchise guy seems at best even with the Bulls if they decide to go all in with WCJ+Lauri+#1.

If that gets you a #1 then I'd consider it. But generally, seems like Bulls are far better just buying him out.

Hell no. He makes like $25 million and is mediocre at best. Are you trying to get locked into mediocrity as soon as possible?

With the season Brown is having I would hang up the phone in Ainge's face if he mentioned Markkanen for Brown. Boston assets aren't looking as good as they are before with the those picks they own not looking to be high lottery any more.

As part of a package, I meant. And not saying I'd do it personally but you could make an argument for Brown+picks for Markkanen if we landed Zion, for instance.

The whole point of going after Davis is to pair him with Lauri and allow for future FA signings. Outside of Lauri and this years draft slot, we dont have squat. We arent good trade partners and yes Boston has more assets. Its a moot point because the trade wont happen.

I agree with you about Ainge. He's a smug trader. That said, I'm in the camp that thinks Brown is pretty underwhelming as a building block, but is intriguing as a third/forth option. If I'm the Pelicans, I'd pass on a trade centered around Brown for Davis. Additionally, their collection of first round picks have lost some luster since last season with LAC, Sacramento, and Memphis all playing over .500 basketball.
I wonder if there's anything that could be built around Portis. I think they're at similar talent levels (though Brown's had a better opportunity to showcase himself). By trading for someone like Portis, Boston frees up playing time and shots for Hayward and Tatum, while also eliminating guys like Semi and Theis from the rotation.
I'm sure Boston fans would find Portis underwhelming, but I actually think he'd be a great fit for them. Brown's a talent, but it's hard to ignore his slow development, especially as gets closer to becoming a restricted free-agency.

I would do whatever it takes to bring home AD! Even WCJ + Lauri + 1st! 101%

Re: Trade Thread: Armchair GMs welcomed
I don’t think Boston is an ideal trade partner for the Bulls.
They appear to be in a holding pattern to keep assets and some cap flexibility should AD become available after this season or KD decides to leave GSW for the Celtics. I highly doubt either happens for them though. They would need Horford to opt out of $30 million and/or trade Hayward and his 30+ million a year dead weight contract.
Second reason I don’t think they’re ideal is they will try to lowball trade offers. Heck they had a trade idea on their board that is straight garbage for the Bulls, but even then they think it’s just “hmmm not bad”:
Yabusele, Rozier, Bird for Portis, Holiday, Arci.
Yeah no thanks.

I probably would too, but a team that consists of Dunn, Lavine, ?, Portis, AD feels like a bad team.
With Randall and Niko in the mix already for NO, I'd try Zach/WCJ/1st for AD instead. Dunn, ?, ?, Lauri, AD feels like a better foundation.

What sort of return are you looking for? Looking at your roster I don't think there's an obvious piece that makes sense. I guess the most likely thing is whether you'd want to give up your 1st in return for us taking on one of Johnson or Whiteside.
