Drummond is the finishing touch on a championship contender. He's not a building block for a rebuilding team. Hard pass.

And to be a finishing touch on a contender, he would have to be much cheaper. Maxing Drummond out (or giving him anything close to his max) is insanity in every scenario. I mean, that's why the Pistons want to move on.

Re: NBA Trade Thread
I was watching a NBA youtuber's video (cant remember which one) and he proposed that when the 6ers realize they have to break up the duo of Simmons & Embiid, theyre gonna pick Simmons to stick with and trade Embiid to the Bulls. I thought it was an interesting take.

He's making me a prophet.
I'm so glad for him.
If we can pry him away, that would be a steal.

Speculation, but I'd do it!
Recently, Andrew Miller of Fansided proposed a deal that could really shake up the league.Essentially, the trade would center around sending Kuzma to Chicago in exchange for Otto Porter Jr., Kriss Dunn and Chandler Hutchison.

Given his injury history, and likelihood of more future injuries.....
playing for the Bulls and being dependent on the Bulls training and medical staff would be a death blow to any hopes of him having a long and semi-healthy career.

Watched this game after a long time, and it's more of the same.
Fire Boylen. Trade Thad Young and a couple more and wait for a miracle and an 8th seed.

Lavine to 76ers please. For Josh Richardson + assets.
Give me Thybulle and a pick. We can probably flip Josh Richardson for value too.
They’re desperate.

Can't let fear and worry guide your future forever. Otherwise, we'll always be just good enough and miss out on the reward from taking a risk.
Treadmill and mediocre status.

Otto Porter is a bad investment.
Bulls send Porter to the Hawks for Len and Crabbe.

Re: NBA Trade Thread
I’ll say it now. At this point, for better or worse, Zach is by and far the best Bulls player. It’s not close.
I don’t love his game at all, but I can’t stomach dumping the best player and building with the rest of this unimpressive 1st-rd ceiling core.
Before moving Zach, I look at moving Wendell, Lauri, Coby and the rest. Depending on return, of course.
Otto has zero value unless he returns to an NBA court by February.

Seen a couple of deals on the trade board I'd do that other teams fans have been into.
Dunn for Malik Beasley
THT and filler for Valentine

What this team needs more than anything is a PG to make this whole thing work. CP3 would make Zach Lauri and WCJ so much better. I’ve been against it but believe it’s worth it after I’ve seen what’s it done for SGAs game.
CP3 has 2/80 left on his deal after this season.
Felicio is 2/16
Thad is 1/14
I’d even throw in Sato at 1/10
Or Kornet at 1/6.
Take on salary to win. CP3 would bypass Boylen On the court and make this offense hum. This gets OKC out of the tax too
CP3 would also mentor Coby.

I don't see why the Thunder would do that trade. They have exceeded all expectations and they are looking like a shoe-in for the playoffs. They may end up just riding with CP3 for this season and next, and potentially trade him on the last year of his deal.
Why so serious?

They are 23M into the tax. They have to make a trade that will then kill their playoff ride anyway.

- A non-shooting, undersized center like Wendell isn't exactly a hot commodity around the League. I understand why the Chicago fan base loves him, but these guys are dime a dozen. Nobody will give the Bulls a 1st round pick for him just because of his rebounding.
- If the Bulls intended to trade Markkanen, they would have done so already. He's the perfect 2nd/3rd banana in the modern NBA, the type of dude every team needs - the Bulls included. They WILL offer him a big deal, to the horror of 95% of this board.
- The main advantage Lauri has compared to Zach is that it's much easier to put him next to an alpha dog if need be. He'll adapt. There may have been a time when this was possible for LaVine too, but then the Bulls decided to make him the face of the team (in essence, the "franchise player"). He won't go back to being a sidekick - not here, at least. And since it's clear that he's not good enough to carry the Bulls, I think he'll eventually be moved. There's lots of demand for a gunner like Zach. He's born to play the microwave bench scorer role for some contender.
- Coby White's trade value is nonexistent. He may not be in the league in 5 years.

I have said this in other threads. I think the age of point guards is over. You just can't win if the guy running the offense is small. You need to run the offense through a wing or a big who can handle the ball. I would save up assets and wait for someone to come available.

IMO, Lauri is a 7th banana. Your top 2 or 3 guys have to be ball handlers that can create for others. Given that virtually all of Lauri's shots are assisted and he rarely assists others, that isn't him. Its virtually the opposite of him.
Lavine continues to show improvement and his metrics are following. He is basically the only real keeper the Bulls have right now, IMHO. If you put him next to a real player, a point forward type, I think a lot of his issues with decision making get hidden.

The funny thing is it has been over ever since Jordan showed up.
Isiah and Curry are the only multi-chip championship PGs since the 80s that I can think of , and both were surrounded by epic and long, tough defensive teammates... with a lot of bark (Dray, Laettner, etc.) to make up for their little guys carrying the offensive loads.
Otherwise, it's been all Kobe, Wade, Lebron, Pierce, Garnett, Durant, Kawhi, with heavy wing/tweener depth (Iguodala, Battier, Diaw, Green, Odom, Posey, Stevenson, etc.).
We can all agree Derrick Rose might've been the most unstoppable isolation/1-man PG scoring machine in history. Isiah and Curry could shoot the hell out the ball and make some great plays, but you could've put 09-11 Rose next to Kornet, Adrian Griffin and Dickey Simpkins and he could still manage to score 40 points against most teams. What did it take for Miami to shut him down? A motivated (and granted, prime) Lebron in man-to-man coverage. When it comes down to a 5th gear competition, the bigger athlete tends to win (assuming the skills are comparable).
Westbrook had some great moments, but I'll still Harden over him any day if I need an ugly iso circus 1-man scoring show.
I do think a quality, smart two-way PG is essentially a must. I wouldn't say the age of PGs is over. You need a Lowry, Kidd (even if he's old), Billups, or even a Derek Fisher to keep things running smoothly. I just don't like the idea of building around a PG.
Chris Paul is the most all-around gifted PG of the generation, and at no point did I favor his championship odds, even when he had young/prime Griffin and Jordan to throw lobs to. What were those Clippers missing? A solid wing who makes more than the vet min.
And the Splash Bros would've been a perennial 1st rd splash if Draymond hadn't come out of nowhere to become a Barkley/Rodman-lite hybrid, along with Iguodala the super 6th man / finals MVP.
Wings are the most valuable position in the NBA. You can literally never have too many. Cue to the Celtics who seem to be doing fine with 3 starting wings, especially when one of them got injured. Never missed the playoffs despite the gruesome injury to a freshly signed max player.
Part of me hopes Otto can be salvaged/healthy/resigned cheap. Pretty cynical right now, but a 26yo should recover from a broken foot.... And after that, for the love of god, start turning these run-of-the-mill bigs and points for wings.
