That was honestly the most enjoyable allstar game men or women, that I have seen in years.

Both teams competed from the jump. What a fun game, and from my last post, I obviously agree.

Fun competitive game. Feel a bit bad for team USA.

As another poster said on the WNBA board, it felt kinda weird rooting against our national team. I mean, it was mostly USA vs USA, but still. W stars were kinda the underdog and clearly had the chip on their shoulders.

Apparently this was the same thing that happened 3 years ago, right down to Arike winning game MVP.

For sure. The star players showed up and cared. It didn't hurt that Ogunbowale channeled playoff Brunson in the second half, or that the league's super-hyped rookie duo made a bunch of great plays. But truth is, the game would have been good even without those things.

This is the most fun all star game I’ve seen since Mike still laced em up. Any sport.

Team USA vs league All Stars is an awesome format

Way better than the men's all-star game, which has devolved into a dunk contest.

Defenders LITERALLY get out of the way so players can dunk.

Angel Reese has joined a league called Unrivalred. It's basically s women's version of Big3. The goal is too keep players in the states during the WNBA offseason. There already a few big names, including Reese, attached to this league.

Color me intrigued.

Very interesting. Hopefully they market this well, so players have better options than going overseas.

Yep. The first 10 games were rookie initiation, the next 10 games were a distinct improvement, and the past 10 games have been OMG. Clark is averaging 20 points/11.5 assists during that stretch, in a league where no player (at any position) has ever reached 17/8 for a season.

Another way of measuring her impact is that the Fever have matched last year's win total, with 30% of its schedule still remaining. Clark is the only significant roster change from last year.

Although there were some character concerns (early in her senior year at LSU, Reese was suspended for 2 games by her coach for unspecified "locker room issues"), the main reason was concern about her finishing skills. That concern was definitely warranted!

But yeah, the bottom line is that you are right. Everybody knew that Reese would be a strong WNBA rebounder. But nobody realized she would be this strong. If they had, she would have been drafted either #2 or #3. (There's still a good case to be made for Cameron Brink, although we won't know until she is fully recovered from her ACL tear.)

I like Angel, but I honestly think it's quite obvious why she fell (and why many people even had her lower than that). The offense is just extremely bad for the most part. I'd still take CC (duh), Brink, Jackson, Kamilla and probably Edwards ahead of her right now.

In general, drafting two bigs was a mistake IMO. Angel and Kamilla are both good, but by drafting both of them you make building a good offensive team way harder than it needs to be. I would've drafted Rickea and Angel 10 times out of 10 and I think they Sky would be in a way better position if they did that.

The only on court thing that surprised me about Clark is that it took her ten games to figure it out. I thought she was so brilliant she’d reach star-impact level within 3-4 games. And even then, having watched a couple of her early games, it looked like a decent chunk of her "failings" resulted from teammates who had no idea how to play with someone like her. Now they are learning how and it shows.

The least surprising thing about her rookie year is what she’s doing now - I.e., things no one but her has ever done.

She’s like LeBron and Wemby. The hype was always real. And it was always obvious that it was real.

This tells me her potential is limitless. If Angel figures out the bolded part, then watch out. I think Angel could be the Hakeem to Clark's MJ of their draft.

I honestly don't think she wants it bad enough. Just my opinion of course. She doesn't look like she's in great shape to me. A lot of her problems finishing are just that she's so tired she can't really even jump in a coordinated matter towards the rim. Maybe the light goes on for her, it does for a lot of young players, but right now she's just a very inefficient rebounder. She's not even a good defender.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

I think you're underselling something here. Her on/off rating is an absolutely insane +21 while playing 32 minutes a game. Effectively they are a slightly a above average team when she plays and the worst team in the league when she doesn't.

I think it's the opposite. I think she wants it bad enough that she gets in her own way. I think, in her head, she's better than Clark (which we know is not true) and trues to prove. Once she stays within her own game and stop worrying about Clark, she'll take off as a player.
