We start our rebuild process with LaVine, Dunn, #7, and #10. We can then flip Lopez for another future asset. We still tank for a Top 4 pick next year.

I am a proponent of trading Portis for an asset if we are dead-set on keeping Niko.

Yes, that was another intended goal. It appears we will be able to retain him at a reasonable price

How about:

Chicago:
In Hernangomez, O'Quinn
Out Portis, Lopez, Grant

NY:
In Smart, Lopez
Out Hernangomez, O'Quinn

Bos:
In: Portis
Out: Smart

I don't get why NYK does that. Hernangomez is their C of the future, and Noah (when he plays) is garbage.

CHI:
IN Noah, 2018 NYK unprotected 1st rounder
OUT: Lopez, Portis

NYK:
In: Smart, Lopez, 2018 BOS 2nd rounder
Out: Noah, 2018 1st

BOS:
In: Portis
Out: Smart, 2018 2nd rounder

I think they want their pick more than they want Hernangomez. They want Smart and Lopez is a kicker. I would do your trade, but I really don't think NY is trading their pick for Smart and Lopez and dumping Noah.

Just need to trade for a couple awful contracts and some picks, ie Parsons, Turner, etc. Embrace the tank and collect assets.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

I think we could tank with this deal...I think Det wants Drummond gone. What about Lopez, Portis, Grant for Drummond and DET 2019 1st?

Boston is not trading smart plus for Portis now that they traded Bradley.

That makes sense. Note that I posted that before the Bradley trade got announced.

I'd do that. Drummond is a bood buy low candidate but with huge contract. If DET are desperate to trade him, he'd be a good reclamation project for the Bulls. We can sell high or keep him if he turns out great. If he flops, it's fine because the team is probably still tanking for the length of his contract.

Good for the Nets. I like what they're doing despite their limited resources.

Toronto has traded DeMarre Carroll, a future first-round and second-round pick to Brooklyn for Justin Hamilton, league sources tell ESPN.

To be fair, Hamilton more than just a cheap contract, but maybe we could have dumped Portis in this type of deal.

Why would we want to dump Portis? Hamilton's about as nothing as you can get, I'm sure the deal would've been similarly appealing with any of our nothing pieces.

We should've done this deal with Cam Payne in the ass.

How would Hawk fans feel about Wesley Matthews (18.5M this season, player option at 19.5M next season) + Dwight Powell + 2 2nd rounders + Dallas' 2018 1st top 6 protected (indefinitely) for cap space?

To me it looks like the Bulls are not wanting to build through the draft, it seems from the recent trades and/or draft picks that they want young potential players on their first contract i.e Payne (regardless of how people feel about him), Dunn, Lavine, Grant. Plus you have the players the bulls drafted 4 yr Sr in Valentine, overseas player in Zipser, Portis on his third year and one youngster Lauri......The next target should be Kelly Oubre.....with the Wizards paying Porter Oubre won't get the contract even if he has a break out season....my proposal ....the wizards need shooting sign an trade Nikola to the wizards for Oubre. Take on what ever salary it takes to get Niko under the wizards salary cap to get Oubre

I'm guess you meant Bulls fans, so I'll answer from a Bulls fan perspective....My initial thought was that it looked like a fair trade, but I didn't realize how much money Powell was making. I assumed he was on a much smaller deal. I think I might ask for another asset, but not sure what else Dallas has to offer. Without that, I might only be willing to take Matthews and Dallas keep Powell and the 2 2nd rounders. So Matthews plus 2018 first, or Matthews/Powell/1st/2 2nds/additional asset is my offer.

I'm still having a hard time seeing all these Melo to the Rockets rumors and wondering when people will revist the time DanTony walked pout on the Knicks job due to Carmelo.

It was just earlier this year....

During a recent interview with Tim Keown of ESPN Magazine, D’Antoni revealed that he quit after Anthony created an ultimatum for his teammates: him or the coach.

How is Melo to the Rockets a thing?

Phil has to be laughing at this while he's counting his $$$$
