So how does Otto look at 28M per after Middleton, Barnes, and DLO got paid?

I have basically zero confidence in Val and Hutch being positive contributors this season, so I think the next priority with the RMLE is a wing. Have to say, I think Justin Holiday is the guy unless the Bulls can trade Dunn/Val for someone.

Sign a backup C with the vet min. There are so many of these guys out there, we will be able to get good value on a vet min contract. The wings, not so much.

Real happy with our signings so far. Excited to see who else we get to round out the roster

He looks like someone who will be opting out after this season.

You might be right. I'm hoping one of them pans out. Valentine was showing flashes before he went down and Hutchison is prob putting in work this offseason after a disappointing rookie campaign

I have confidence in Val and Hutch. Val is a good shooter, and Hutch can be good on defense, and slashing to the basket. he just has to work on his release and shooting and speed of shooting. both have nice size and weight. Hutch will def improve. Val has to stay healthy, which is easier said than done for him.

Let's get Patrick McCaw now. We'll win the title. In all seriousness, although we need another wing now, we should sign Alan Williams for the vet min. Dude showed serious flashes in Phoenix and can play both the 4 and the 5 in case of injury or if Gafford doesn't play well

As for Val, have we ever heard definitively what his injury was, why it kept him out for the entire season, and any reason to hope that he somehow will be fully healthy next season? I have seen only puff articles talking about him being excited to come back. The absence of details makes me think it's much more problematic than we know.

And Hutch does not have impress me at all. Never has. Can't shoot, not that great a defender.

Knicks signed Wayne Ellington,2 yrs , 8M per.. thats solid deal, Ellington is still good shooter and nice bench guy.

Knicks now have added 5 NBA vets in FA already, Gibson, Randle, Portis, Bullock, Ellington, nothing flashy ,but not that bad either.
Add those players to young core of RJ Barrett, M.Robinson, K.Knox, D.Smith JR, A.Trier, D.Dotson, Ntilikina, and they shouldnt be last in the league anymore ha ha.

Smith, Barrett, Knox, Randle, Robinson
bench : Ellington, Trier, Bullock, Portis, Gibson

Ooh do we wanna use our room exception on Vince Carter? He'd be a great mentor

Not so sure. Not a ton of cap space next summer and he can make his money and then resign or be a FA the following summer when there is way more money.

He could also stay and if we get giannis still start next to him. White Lavine Otto Lauri Giannis

Your post is the only positive Knicks post that I have seen. I agree with it. Knicks have spent a ton of money on proven vets who can still contribute and play. Knicks have a decent core to build around. and I think they have more than just their own picks in the future; but get one from Dallas as well for Porzyngus. Knicks will be fine.

So the one team that's strangely silent, the Clipps. What' s going on? Re-signed own player, may interview Leonard, but maybe not top banana there? Jimmy Butler a nogo with the Logo?

Clips and Lakers are the only two teams with max space left. What an interesting offseason, things moved so quickly.

Kawhi and Danny Green seem like a package deal. If Kawhi doesn’t sign with the Lakers- it would be the ultimate troll job. There’s no players left to sign what would meet there immediate needs (shooting, depth, any PG)

For all his weirdness, Kyrie has attracted arguably the 2 best wings in the last 20 years to join him(LeBron and Durant). The Knicks have been coasting along as the premier franchise in NY even with all their troubles for the last 40/50 years. They now have competition where the attraction is on the other side. A lesson to be learnt is how the Nets cultivated a culture and developed assets for trade even without picks.

that team is horrendous. Frank will be out of the league when his rookie deal is up. Ellington will be great for when they are down 20 at half and need someone to get hot and shoot them back to within 10.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Well we still need a backup wing and and a 3rd string center. I wouldn't be opposed to kicking the tires on Noah, see if he wants to join up and do some mentoring. He could be good in that roll but I'd want some assurances from Boylen that Noah has his head on straight and isn't coming here to party it up as he milks a few more million into his bank account.

What is out there for wings? We can't count on Val at all. Hutch is a complete unknown still. Need one more guy. Holiday wouldn't be bad as the 9th man what's he up to?
