Season is still young but he's averaging 33.8/6.6 @ 66%TS, +7.9 nrtg on a -0.4 rtg team

Yeah, I don't get why Utah should be wanting to trade him and Kessler. They have Bailey now. That could be a very good core.

I think Lauri is relishing being a big fish in a small pond, and would prefer to stay. He also seems like the sort of guy who is very comfortable in a place like Salt Lake City.

I'm picturing him as the #2 guy next to Curry and ahead of Jimmy and thriving and helping that team to title contention. He would still put up an easy 20+ PPG and would probably have better odds of making another AS team due to playing in a bigger market and having increased attention.

Reportedly they could have got him but wouldn't part with Brandin Podziemski. They made the made the cardinal sin of falling in love with their own role players.

He signed the con tract and knew the situation.

I was pushing for the Bulls to go after Lauri over the summer. I REALLY liked the idea of
White/Jones
Giddey/Ayo
Matas/Huerter
Lauri/Phillips
Vuc or Collins/JSmith
Okoro as 11th man

That team could be in the 2nd round
Noa/Collins or Vuc/PWill/Port pick/Bulls' 2026 1st unprotected

Good, more teams should do this.

He is just being selfish and extremely immature right now. And you know what? That's okay! Young people go through phases like this, so it's not like he won't grow out of it, and the hope that he does. But whether you're a professional basketball player, or working in an office, you go through things like this as a young person, and you learn to be professional regardless of your grievances.

This is why drafting young players is such a tricky thing, because on paper, they could have all the skill in the world, but if their mental make up isn't there, they may simply not get to their full potential. I see snippets of Wemby's interviews, and man, for his age, he is just so grounded and well spoken, you just know that he was raised well and has a good head on his shoulder. The same with a lot of the players on our roster as well.

That all said, it doesn't mean that Ja won't put it together, he is just clearly going through some growing pains, I know I was still growing in to being an adult at his age myself, and I only really began to settle in my late 20's.
Why so serious?

I rewatched the 2009 Boston series; Game 6.

What a series; what a game. It’s probably one of the greatest times being a Bulls fan post Jordan. ROY Rose, the glimpses of magic and superstardom that you just knew was right around the corner. Coming away thinking we are right on the precipitous of something great.

And to think how quickly it would come crashing down…

Such a fun game to watch and reminisce about hopeful I was feeling as a fan thinking we were going to compete for the next decade plus…..

I've been watching the Spurs this year due to Wemby, and I have two thoughts on them so far:

- Even if he doesn't end up being the GOAT, Wemby looks like he'll be able to sleepwalk his way to 26/13/4/3/3 on elite efficiency and DPOY level defense for the next decade.

- Out of all their PG's, I like Dylan Harper the best. He gives me Jalen Brunson vibes and is the best fit next to Wemby due to his offensive savvy. I doubt they'll be able to move off of Fox's contract until trade deadline of 2027-28 at the earliest.

So ......

I think they should try and get a godfather offer for Stephon Castle, if it exists. It's not urgent, but this trade deadline, next offseason and the trade deadline after that give them three bites at the apple to find a juicy return for him. Someone who's an improvement over KJ / Sochan / Barnes in the front court + picks that will carry over into Wemby's next deal so they can keep re-stocking the cupboard while he's on his supermax.

Yeah he’ll be interesting to watch what they do. I feel like having 3 starting guards is a great luxury, esp. since Fox is injury prone. Keldon’s been a trooper and a nice bench piece. They’re in no salary restrictions, and have that ATL pick coming… I feel like patience is their best play, unless one of the heavy stars hits the trade mill (Giannis, Jaylen).

I think the worst thing they could do is go "all-in" on a non All-NBA star who's best suited being the number one guy on a 45 win team. Sort of like De'Aaron Fox :D. It's not so bad now because of Wemby's rookie deal, but once he gets his supermax those contracts will begin to bite.

Wemby is so profoundly talented that I feel like the best thing to do is keep re-harvesting assets into more poker chips so you can plan to keep a team around him through his next two contracts after his rookie deal. Most of them will fizzle, but over 5 years you should find at least one Jalen Williams type win. And then build the rest of your roster a la Miami Heat. And really, really try hard not to fall in love with your own role-players who are padding their nest with Wemby's gravity. The latter sounds reasonable and logical, but teams have a hard time stopping themselves from doing it.

Kings have a 130 DRTG in 339 Minutes with Derozan and Lavine on and Keegan Murray off. This DRTG would be the LEAGUE WORST All-Time duo in NBA History.

Which, unfortunately, is already late in the day for small PGs who rely on quicks, aside from great exceptions like Steph and CP3.

Ja hasn't been right ever since he was suspended by the league.

Since then, he tore his shoulder, his coach got fired and now he plays in an offense that he does not like.

He is clearly sulking right now and his image is taking on even more damage.

You would think logically the Grizz should just tear it all down and start over. To me trading Bane already started it. Just finish it off by trading Ja.

Yes Ja could just play the company line and bite his tongue. But I just highly doubt he has people in his corner to give him the proper advice. I dont think the question is "If" but rather "When" he does have moved.
