Ha this was my fear as I watched them crumble and struggle.

Harris has had a bad year, I don’t know how much he would’ve really helped, but just having another option to throw at Mitchell sounds nice. Like, even 6’6 Gary Trent Jr has been a boost for Portland.

And he’s basically Jr Smith and LaVine’s brother, but Barton would’ve added 10-15 ppg for Utah to deal with. And Millsap is looking like a bruiser PF who turned 35 and is at the end of the road.

Like Portland, I don’t see these flagship contenders, but they can atleast give themselves a better chance next season by just targeting some mid-level defensive wings.

The positive take-aways are that Jokic and Murray can sure put points on the board. But guarding the PnR... oh my..

Wait? He didnt left already?! Lebron era ended when he decided that his own rest is more important than catching playoffs. As he needed top 5 player in a trade to make it happen next year.

Lebron is still the face of the league. And he will always be until he cant play to a high level any longer or he retires. Whichever comes first.

You don't have to be the best player in the league to be the face of the league.

Im starting to think now was Brett Brown ever a good coach for the Sixers.

I think people felt more pity for him because he had to coach a team that was purposely tanking. And all signs point to the Sixers also feeling sorry for him and didnt want to part ways because of it. Its sort of Bad PR to hire a coach knowing the team will purposely stink and give him a terrible coaching resume.

But also people around Sixer circles also predicted his time wont last long after they started getting talent. The last 3 years he has had talent alot of coaches would be envious of. Still barely cracked 50 wins.

People thought he would be fired before this season occurred but they ultimately decided to give him one more season.

Me personally, I dont think Brett Brown was ever all that good a coach. Not horrible but nothing that raised the level of the team type of good. Coming from Coach Popp doesnt mean anything, just ask Jim Boylen.

Off topic but slightly on: Denver wouldn’t need an option to throw at Mitchell if they just drafted him. BPA wasn’t Denver’s thinking there(I do get why Harris and / Murray)

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

If Elton Brand is allowed to trade one of Embiid or Simmons this offseason, ESPN 30 for 30 will be something like the Tank, the Rise, the Fall of the 76ers.

Simmons suggested an Embiid for Lauri, Wendell, Felicio, and #4 trade. I would very happily do that and build around Embiid, LaVine, Porter, and White.

Yeah, though Mitchell is the mega anomaly. 6'1 stocky SG who didn't even shoot exceptionally well. But his athleticism, defense, handles and long wing-span were noted. But there really aren't a lot of successful players in that mold. Avery Bradley and McCollum are the only other guys who come to recent memory. I can think of many 6'4+ guys, but it is a game of inches, and great, full-time sub-6'2 SGs are pretty rare. Sure, many 6th men (Lou W, B. Gordon)... Mitchell is the most dominant short SG since Iverson.

Nevertheless, trading down 12 picks, with Mitchell and Bam on the board (and a number of other strong prospects, like Patton at the time, Collins, OG), and coming out with Lyles and Lydon was simply terrible. That is about as GarPax as it gets. :-?

I don't think Philly wants to rebuild with young guys. Brand has been bringing in vet after vet. If one of these guys is traded, it's gonna be for another vet star. IE Simmons for Beal.

I like the deal though. I'd try to keep Lauri somehow. I think he's a really nice big next to Embid.

Every time Houston misses a three an angel gets its wings.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

good game between OKC and HOU. In the end, Chris Paul's mid range jumpers were more effective than HOU's 3 pointers.

After getting four future 1st round picks for George + Westbrook while also massively reducing salary, the Thunder had the best season since Durant left and now have clinched, at a minimum, tying their best playoff performance since that time (which was a 2-4 series loss).

Would be hilariously awesome if the Thunder beat the Rockets.

They said during the broadcast that OKC boasts the best 5 man combination in the league- can't remember who they said it was composed of, other than Shai was on it.

Torching the team that technically drafted him. That's cold blooded.

Gobert was also drafted by the Nuggets and traded on draft day. They're beating themselves basically.

I forgot about that. Nuggs basically traded Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell for #46, Erick Green, Cash, Tyler Lydon and Trey Lyles.

The problem for OKC with Westbrook and PG13 is that they had no real balance. Same thing with the Sixers.
Once they landed Paul and Shai it helped their balance along with allow Schroder to take on a more prominent role.
