21 ppg, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists in 10 playoff series... Going to go out on a limb and say that is not one of the worst playoff performers of all time.

He's also going to be the third option now. Very different.

Jokes aside, we now actually have the talent to make a big move for a legitimate star with the type of players we have. We are filling up the talent stable in a big way.

Goodness gracious! Look at us! Lonzo/Lavine/Demar/Pat/Vuc...we got a **** squad y'all. We back! Caruso on the bench, if we could still S&T Lauri for like a backup rim protector (does Orlando hate Mo Bamba?) we're like ready to go.

This new FO is on fire. Looks like some of you may not like the players or whatever and maybe you'll be right, but the EFFORT here. Oh my god, I can't believe what we're doing.

The Bulls, the BULLS, are wheeling and dealing.

Lonzo for Sato, Demar for Thad? It's nice for once to be the beneficiary of these "well surely my team could've beat that" deals. I left this board because I knew all the fun and ambitious things we discussed here would literally never happen, I was l.i.t.e.r.a.l.l.y. wasting my time and attention and energy on a team that didn't give a hoot about itself. Now look at us. Let's roll.

What an offseason! This is some next level ****!

I think I need a cigarette, and I don't even smoke.. .

And in many ways it’s simple. These good players become undervalued because of their awful/young/injured teams. Put them together with a good coach and role-players, and all of a sudden they might win games.

I’m totally aware this isn’t the Nets 3 or Lakers 2.5, but in a wide-open NBA, this is the right move.

This is how you shoot your shot.

I love AKME's conviction.

How can you not trust this FO - I love it.

First off, the bad. DD is not a great outside shooter. He also isn't a particularly good defender. He is on the wrong side of 30 and will be paid a lot. There are concerns here.

Now let's talk about what I think the Bulls are trying to be: IMO, the end goal is to be kind of like Denver with some tweaks. Vucevic plays the hub center role where he plays in the high post and drops to the low post. He moves around and is the primary pick setter. Around him, you have 4 perimeter players who cut off ball, take open shots on catch and shoot but mostly run pick and roll or attack off swing passes. Effectively, you should have 4 point forwards and a center.

On defense, they are trying to get to have bigger wing style, athletic players who can switch, help, etc.

DD checks off a lot of boxes here for what Chicago wants. Let go of the idea of traditional PG / SG / SF / PF roles and it makes a lot of sense. It also is why they haven't been too high on Wendell, Lauri, Gafford, etc. who couldn't fill any of the roles on offense.

Sorry to quote myself but I ask this: If DD falls through and I am right, who else is moderately available who could fit in this system? Is there a 6'8" wing player who can handle the ball that could be had for Lauri?

If you want to go that route, the only guy who *almost* qualifies is Kelly Oubre Jr... he's 6 ft 7. Obviously, I agree with you that the game has evolved, largely in the way that you have often described CF. If the Derozan deal falls through, we could probably get away with Oubre at PF during the season for large chunks of game time. Wouldn't we then have to grab an actual borderline starter at PF too, for match up purposes?

derozan has pretty dramatically improved his scoring efficiency and playmaking for others since leaving toronto, and he had a good playoff run his first year in san antonio

No because DD is still tradable at that contract as an asset too. It’s high but on the third year he would be easy to move. Don’t love the guy but I like depth and talent.

Guys, we were over the cap.
The only thing this is costing is Dorfs money.

Relax. Enjoy this. We deserve it.

All we need is a rim protecting center to shore up the roster.

We now have two wings who can create for themselves and others. We have a swiss army knife 3D PG. We have a center who can hit 3s, pass, and post up. We have a microwave scorer off the bench. We have a young 3D stretch 4 bursting with potential.

I'm concerned about the defense but with the right center, we can definitely field a formidable defensive lineup when necessary.

So far the roster construction by AK/ME has been elite and I don't think they're done yet...

We need a goon to pair with Lauri as backup C.

Zo / Zach / DeRozan / PW / Vooch
Caruso / White / TBJ / Lauri / Goon C

So many guards, Ayo won't get much playing time.
