We all should have learned from 2010...This is a marathon, not a sprint.

And also, it IS a really big time decision...No way in hell Melo should haved rushed this decision to please some fans he didn't even know existed...It would honestly look better upon us if we not only showed patience but also understanding. Look better to who? I dunno...But it would look better none the less...

I didn't expect a decision before today. Sadly, I don't think it will come today. Or tomorrow, or even by wednesday or thursday. So I'm resuming the portions of my life that actually affect my day to day. I'll be around. And I'll comment here and there. But I will not be refreshing this thread every few minutes like I have been.

Didn't you just "opt out"?

Did you read what I wrote? I opted out of the PROCESS. Not the thread.

Windy also said that if melo does indeed stay in new york for the max he will be costing himself 900k. So the cost of this tour will end up making him 900k poorer as a result. And he could have just opted in then got his 5 year max essentially giving him 6 years of max pay.

either melo is an idiot or he is gone.

Just don't feel like melo would take this long if he knew we were his choice

Seems like he waiting for others moves to be made and it ain't from us.

Seems like all we did was offer him a take it or leave it deal where we wouldn't part with taj. He gave no definitive answer so we like the lame dude waiting on that girl to call, then one day we out at the store and we see that girl out with another guy. Sometimes you gotta take a hint

I don't think our season is over because one player didn't sign. We can still make moves.

I agree. The train we hope the light is not, is Derrick's knees. his back, his toes, etc.

Or it was worth 900,000 to check your options.

I'm going to go with that one.

See...that part right there...That was you sprinting.

I was on constant refresh during the Bulls visit, but after that I played it cool...I knew this was going to be a long process.

I'd be shocked if we don't get a decision 2morrow because guys can officially sign on the 10th (or 11th). You usually get a decision RIGHT before they can officially sign.

Can't lie....I was looking for tidbits on which way he was leaning. But as Windhorst said last week: It's lying season. Following this process has just gotten too exhausting. In that regard it is my own fault, you are correct. This is me realizing it and choosing not to follow as closely, while still "engaging in loose conversation" about our team and other issues related to it's construction, including this.

Looks like we're turning on each other...

And Melo hasn't even announced he's not coming yet.

Feel sorry for these mods later...

And do what? I could understand if there were other FA's the Bulls were missing out on due to Melo's decision but there really aren't.

He's trying to leverage for a S&T to CHI or more money to stay in NY.

If we miss out on Melo, is there any chance we can just keep Booze hound? I just want to hear him scream a little more and love seeing him get his cat nap in during the 4th quarter.

It's not that simple. There's only about one thing for sure: Melo and his camp had to anticipate that NY would offer the supermax. So, the idea that that's going to be enough to convince him to leave probably isn't the case. As you have here, if it was always about the money, he never would've opted out.

But, it's possible that he wanted to see what was out there, but after meeting face-to-face with Phil and Fisher, that they've convinced him enough (along with the money) that they can put a winner together there in NY. Obviously we could argue that til we're blue in the face but it doesn't matter: it's only about convincing Melo.

You are talking to me, so I will answer: If he were trying to leverage his way to Chicago, why not just put it out there publically that he has asked NY to sign and trade him to Chicago, and put the pressure on Phil Jackson to "behave" and capitulate?

Remember when Melo got traded to New York, Brooklyn then got Deron Williams right after? Let's hope if we miss out on Melo, we get Love right after. Except that Love has a better career than D-Will.

No argument. Just some friendly needling. I hope you stick it out actually. The board is better with passionate folks such as yourself. Just hate to see people losing their minds over Carmelo Anthony.
