I guess that means no Zach for them...?

That narrows down the possibilities.

They acquired him via sign and trade, so the deal is for at least 3 years. He gets 18 million in the first two years. 3 million partial guarantee in the 3rd year and a player option on a non guaranteed 4th year

How do you get a player option on a non guaranteed 4th year? Plus the third year is 3 million partial guarantee.

Does that mean for year three the Warriors can get out of the deal by paying him 3 million (for that season)?

Given their cap constraints, great move by the Warriors. He could have a career year with Draymond and Steph feeding him. If Wiggins can get back to 20+, they should be good. Like you said, take a healthy Hield over a Klay sitting on the bench any day.

Buddy on that deal is a steal. GSW gets their 3P fix.

Wow, that’s a lot of money for Frantz. But, he has been balling for the Magic. This also means Coby is getting a similar deal in two years of he continues to play well

I would be thrilled to pay Coby that deal if he can play at a level remotely approaching Wagner by then (which he hasn't thus...IMO he's been a tier below - I have Franz as a 2nd quartile starting talent and Coby a 3rd or 4th quartile one).

At least you are being real about it.

Whenever we sign our own, most complain and say about overpay etc etc. Franz gets more than Zach and not a peep is said. People will even validate it.

I say all this to be prepared for when Josh Giddey gets his next contract. People are going to act like if he puts up 18-7-7 he is only going to get a 4/100 type deal. Pffft

Hopefully we can try to extend him this offseason instead, 4/90 + 1 player option

Giddey won’t accept that. After he drops 17/8/7 next season he will get at least $150 million. $200 million if he shoots 35 percent from 3.

Franz (6'10"): 19.7/5.3reb/3.7ast/1.9to ... 28% from 3 (4.6 att) / 48% FG / 55 eFG% ... 112 d-rating (after 114/116) ... 17.6 PER/6.4 WS/72games

Player B (6'10"): 18/10.5reb/3.3ast/1.6to ... 29% from 3 (4.1 att) / 48% FG / 52 eFG% ... 115 def-rating (after 110/110) ... 17.7 PER/5.4 WS/76 games

Spoiler:
Player B - Vuc
Obviously different positions, different roles, different teams. I'm not happy with Vuc; sad because I think he's been biggest detriment to team.

But honestly, I don't get the hype and Bulls fans' love of Franz. I'd followed his box scores in fantasy bball, and it wasn't consistent orr impressive (but he did seems to get hot in Bulls games). This contract seems insane for product delivered. I could be totally wrong and will fess up if it happens, but that's gotta require some serious increase in efficiency and all-around game. Right now he is a 6'10" scorer with pretty poor efficiency for that size, and below ave rebounding for size. Personally, while the Vuc trade was big bust ... the draft picks of Franz (on a 250 mil contract) and Jett Howard don't keep me up at night.

Vuc per 36 is 18.9 points on 54% TS as a center. Franz per 36 is 21.9 points on 57% TS as a wing. But point taken...that is a lot of money. I think there's always an expectation of big improvements when giving out a max to a rookie, where we can assume Vuc will continue to downslide. Even Duncan had his biggest drop at Vuc's age, from 18 ppg to 13 ppg.

Franz in my opinion is overrated as hell, especially by Bulls fans because he was drafted with our pick. He shouldn’t be getting max money, but the Magic had no choice. That’s not to say he isn’t a good player, but I feel he is who is, and will likely be a Rashard Lewis type at his absolute best.

If Giddey can consistently shoot 35%, he’ll be worth every penny and that Caruso trade will look like a steal. Lets hope it happens. Because if we can get 2nd year Giddey with a 35%+ 3PT FG, thats a special player.

I also don’t think Franz will ever live up to this contract, good player but not enough to be a top 2 option, which he will need to be if hes making 50M a year.

The thing is the free agent market has already spoken. If you are a promising young player especially on offense, you are going to get paid. Flaws and all.

As it relates to Giddey, if he gets anything close or more to what he avg in his second season, the only question we will have do we offer 5/175 or 5/200,

Its just where the league is.
