This is still so frustrating.

As a successful and profitable franchise, we are like the ONLY Top team in the league that worries about Luxury Tax as severely as we do.

All this would be is an elaborate salary dump with a swing for the fences hope on a rookie.

This has step back written all over it.

Unless the rookie is a Derrick Rose like stud, there is no way it was a good move.

I hope they know what they are doing if they make a deal.

Normally I would agree. However, with Rose and Deng being injured and it looking like it will take time to get Rose back at full speed, it makes sense. This opens the door for more free agents we would not have been able to get in the past and it gives us a chance to take on a possible rookie that could be a difference-maker on offense. I don't think we could have beaten Miami this year with the way they started to play either as is. We would be losing our bench if we kept Deng too.

If we trade Deng for #7 and non expiring contracts I would be extremely disappointed. That would still put the Bulls on the 2014 plan. I cannot see the organization making that trade. Only reason I could is because they think Jimmy Butler is going to be a borderline All-Star.

Correct - if this deal is real (IF being the key word), the Bulls can't actually make this trade without knowing for sure who is on the board at #7. The other difficult part will be holding together a 3 way trade for the rest of the week with all of these teams talking to each other.

I haven't read the entire thread, so forgive me if a new scenario has emerged, but assuming Lamb is the pick, I love the Deng/GS/Utah deal. It allows us the potential to retain one our greatest strengths (the bigs) and we're able to swap Deng and his contract for a potential future #2 and capable expiring contracts that will allow us to compete in the playoffs. Deng's a good player but due to his injury history and style of play, I don't see him as a longterm running mate w/ D.Rose. Yeah, we may go into the tax if we're forced to sign the Big O with the full MLE and if that's the case then the FO feels we can compete next spring. Lamb or die trying.
Just a must-watch army of possessed ass-kickers laying the smack down night after night after night. People are gonna hate playing the Bulls this year.

Bulls get- Wright, Harris, #7 and 2nd rd pick or picks not fully sure on the 2nd rd stuff yet

Jazz get- Bieds, 29, 30, Bulls 2013 1st and another Bulls player (in the past I know Utah like Watson)

Warriors- Deng

Other things could be involved but this is what I got so far

Ehh, kind of a poor deal to give up Deng and 2 1st rounders to get #7, Dorrell Wright, and Devin Harris.

This. Awful trade.

The Bulls would basically be getting one lottery pick for two first round picks and the best player in the deal by far(also a top 10 SF) for the #7 and one year rental of Harris and Wright.

Just horrible.

Rose? He fits.
Deng? He fits. He's expensive, but he fits.
Noah? He fits.

Boozer? The 2nd highest paid player being the 4th most important guy? That doesn't fit.

And now we've probably seen the last of Deng here because of it.

I find it hard to believe the Bulls actually think this Boozer experiment or whatever has worked out well and we should continue to progress it.

I think Boozer fits just as well as Noah fits. Only Noah has been here longer.

Trading Deng is only a salary dump if you receive an expiring contract in return, right? You can't trade Deng for Golden State's seventh overall pick straight up, and I'm thinking the Warriors would want the Bulls to take on a bad contract, then again maybe not. I guess it depends on how bad they want Deng.

If Toronto is looking to do Calderon an their pick just for Deng, why would the Bulls not do that deal? Or if you want to take on two year salary, Salmons and the five for Deng? The GS deal is a bad deal considering your other options.

I dont really like the idea either but in the big picture of things, like my fellow poster said, it just makes sense.

The thing is Deng would need to be extended in 2 years anyway and I highly doubt that Deng would say I will take half the salary to extend. He will only be 29. Deng would still have a sizable 4 year deal to come.

Bull do need an infusion of younger talent though.

I just hope they are D-Rose type studs.

Help me out: are there some rumors that Toronto is interested for a Trade like that or did Toronto even mentioned something like that?

The Toronto option would be much better, I like it.

Sadly this is how I feel as well. Deng has definitely become my second fav current Bull, but I think in a year or two Jimmy Butler will be able to start and build up to about Deng's level.

If the Bulls can get young scoring from this deal, then bring it on.

Why would the jazz do this deal? They lose talent and take on salary.
