Melo's lawyers don't care about the NBA rules, they'd be doing whatever they need to for Anthony.

I tend to believe that this isn't connected to him picking Chicago but rather just procedural stuff Anthony needs done.

Yeah they basically have to go over the details before everything comes out

I had a thought that I'd like to gauge the other members/mods interest on: If Carmelo chooses the Bulls, a new thread should be made even if "Melo 18/19/Mitchteen" is open. I think a story that big would deserve better than *UPDATE on pg. 63!!!" in the middle of an ongoing topic. Thoughts?

One thing that still bothers Anthony is Jackson had wanted him to take less than a max contract, sources told Yahoo Sports.

WTF? I thought the money didn't matter to him?

Zen-Master huh?

I'd be insulted too if I was Melo. If you want me to stay in NY, you better pray the premium for being really bad. "Take less so we can sign players." You mean the amount I was getting paid previously? What the hell did you with that? Amare and the Center you already traded? Is it so you can pay JR Smiff more money to not care?

ehh I think there'll be about 50 threads on the topic if Melo does come here

and I don't envy the mods that are charged with maintaining some sort of order

2. His attorneys would lay the ground work over the phone and then seal the deal in person. They would negotiate in person before the Bulls even knew how much money they'd have to work with.

3. Even completely ignoring 1 & 2, the league is still shut down for the moratorium period so deal isn't being signed tomorrow, the next day, or the day after anyways.

You didn't actually refute anything he said. I'm pretty sure we're all well aware of the moratorium. All we're waiting for is Melo.

$1500 an hour attorneys aren't going to waste time by flying in days in advance and wait for the moratorium to pass.

Why would they have to sit there and wait? Couldn't they negotiate and prepare the paperwork tomorrow and then file it when the moratorium ends?

I'm just ready for this to be over. I don't care what he does any more. Still not interested in giving NY Mirotic or McDermott.

Being a husband....the kind that wants to stay married for the rest of his life...means you put your wife first. Not wife 1a and career 1b. But wife is first. Some of the attitudes i see here go to great lengths to explain our divorce rate. Being a wife is not about being "cool". Its about being a wife. When you marry, your family should trump all. People don't live to work. They work to live.

I see nothing in there about the wife reciprocating and putting the husband at 1a and her career at 1b if the situation dictates it. If marriage is going to be a one way street and women take the attitude that they should always be 1a, that would go a long way in explaining divorce rates as well.

The fact that you think it HAS to be put in there in the first place speaks volumes. I don't have to remind my wife of her responsibilities as I honor her by putting her first. Mutuality is implied. You guys have totally jumped the shark on this. Arguing against a position I didn't take.

Oh, you mean like dismissively suggesting that being a wife is not about being cool (but rather some unnamed responsibility that defines being a wife), despite the fact that it should be plainly obvious that some wives being cool does not imply that that is part of their responsibilities as a wife or what they're about?

Or like going off on a tangent about responsibilities of a husband and family vs work when my post was about cool wives who like to do their part in a relationship?

Anyway, good luck on your marriage.

A few of the senior partners are season ticket holders, and also do a lot of work with InCapital, which is owned by Tom Rickett, the Cubs owner. Anyway, word is, in the office, Melo's attorney's are heading into Chicago tomorrow. That is all I got.

So I didn't want to be just another Rando with a Source, but my Father and I have relationships with two Sr. Partners at Seyfarth Shaw LLP HQ'd in Chicago: One of the partners called me earlier this afternoon (b/c he knows how closely I'm following the Melo situation) and the other partner confirmed via text that Carmelo's Attorneys will definitely be in Chicago by tomorrow mid-morning.

NOTE: I've been a heavy-lurker throughout this Melo process, and wanted to take a moment to thank you all for helping me through this roller coaster of a week. My process has been: 1) Read latest breaking story from (insert that hack ESPN/Yahoo "Insider") 2) Dial into 4-way conference-call with my Bro's to discuss the legitimacy/effect of said latest news 3) Come here to read through latest 8-10 pages of latest Melo Thread 4) Re-calibrate my thoughts on whether we land Melo.

Right now, I am very confident Melo will be a Bull.

You guys overrate the position of a wife. Lala is coming with Melo if it's best for his future.

No one with direct knowledge of the process would declare the Lakers had overtaken New York and Chicago in Anthony's mind, but one source close to Anthony said of the Lakers, "They're in the game now."

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--l ... 19352.html

The way I look at this comment it seems like Melo is playing LA against CHI.

They specifically state LA is not the favorite but make a point to say they are in the game. Only reason can be money and a nice location to play.

IMO Melo may be angling to get that offer the Bulls are reported to have open for him (via Ralph) of stating at 22 mil.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

At what point are we expecting Melo to make his decision?

Within the next 24 hours, or the next few days or?
