You would think after the CP3 / Lakers disaster the NBA would stay away from trying to control deals. If the fines go up to 1st round picks the accusations of favoritism will make that incident look like nothing. 99% of the NBA fanbase knows that AD didn't go to LA based on a legitimate trade package of what he is worth. The media has already said the Pels had better offers than what LA gave them. This was pre-arranged a year ago when Lebron went to LA and everyone knows it.

The entire foundation of the penalty system is poorly thought out. Why are you punishing the team & fans, when it's beyond either's control. The punishment should fall on 100% of those responsible, the agents (usually Rich Paul). The media widely reported Rich Paul wanted Lonzo out of NOP and in NY or CHI since before the trade deadline.

The Bulls aren’t going to lose out on Ball, so there’s some speculation that the punishment could be worse, assuming there is punishment. Cody Westerlund of 670 The Score says “there’s a belief in some NBA circles that the Bulls could be docked a first-round draft pick.”

I can't believe that this crappy investigation is still not over yet. I am not even against a punishment (probably 1st round pick) since because the Bulls did not a very very smart job with the quick signing, but it still takes way too much time.
