LBJ's ego is what is going to make him come to Chicago - he can't accept that there is a place or a stage with too much pressure. He'll come here to prove to everyone that even the specter of Jordan is no match for King James.

I still believe the non-stop comparisons in Chicago will really get to him.

lebron thinks he's better than mj at the same age, it wont faze him. in his mind he's bigger, stronger, and sexier than mj ever was. why do you think of all numbers he chose 6?

Beware the shadow...

If Lebron is that afraid of the shadow of MJ he'll never win period. How many times did we hear about "MJ won his first championship in year....LBJ?" Being in Cleveland didn't stop that. Is the pressure of MJ's shadow bigger in Chicago then the constant pressure of the NY media? It's not like NY wants Lebron because maybe he'll win. They want him because they believe he will bring them a championship. He thinks the media has been on him now for not winning in Cleveland, he's in for a rude awakening the first time he doesn't win in NY. NY fans like to point out that NY is just BIGGER, even going as far to mention the BIGGER spotlight in NY. How bright will that spotlight burn the Kings retinas if/when he was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs?

This whole shadow of Jordan thing is crazy. It didn't seem to stop the ego of Kobe from wanting to play in Chicago if that opportunity arose. I don't see Rose cowering in the fetal position in some corner of the United Center. It sure hasn't stopped young prospects (Steve Francis/Micheal Beasley) from being openly upset at not being drafted by Chicago. A lot of these guys grew up watching the running of the Bulls and want nothing more than to follow in their idols footsteps. Is Lebron one of the? We'll find out.

Former Knick/Bull Charles Oakley, a friend of James’, says LeBron will go to either Chicago or Miami but will leave Cleveland. These odds have changed dramatically since before the Cavs’ ouster."

Chicago Bulls: 2/1
Cleveland Cavaliers: 8/11
Miami Heat: 15/2
New Jersey Nets: 8/1
New York Knicks: 5/2

Wow. 2:1 odds?

Yeah, not going to get much of a payout betting on the Bulls anymore.

No. As a Bulls fan i've been there dozens of times. I know now not to believe what i hear in the media regrading Bulls rumors and not to join the hype surrounding it.

The topic of LBJ to the Bulls is still too fresh.

I just have to say one more thing tonight...

For all those New York fans trying to use New York is the Mecca, and MSG is the greatest arena, arguments....

New York might be the Mecca of "playground basketball" because of Rucker Park and whatnot, but how in the holy hell can it be the Mecca of professional basketball, when the Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, and Spurs have damn near had a monopoly on the championships throughout the course of time?

As far as MSG goes... Someone correct me if I'm wrong....but the main reasons that sh*t hole is so famous is because (a) There has been a ton of championship boxing events there, and (b) Great players like MJ, Reggie Miller, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron made a habit out of coming in there and nutting all over Spike Lee's glasses on national television over and over. The place is famous because VISITING players have made it famous, mainly a certain Chicago Bull who LeBron idolized as a kid.

I think the media would be more accepting if he won "one" championship in NY than winning just "one" championship with the Bulls.

If LeBron doesn't decide to go to the Bulls and goes elsewhere besides Cleveland....What would you guys think of LeBron?

Why do you think he chose NOT to play for the Bulls when he had the chance?

Yeah right. This is NY we're talking about. If Lebron were on the Knicks he'd get hammered if he didn't win one in his first two years. After he won one, it'd most definitely be expected in NY. They gave it to Arod pretty hard for his playoff performance until he won one. How do you think they'll treat him after this year if the Yanks are in the playoffs and lose with a struggling Arod again? NY, where the only thing the media loves more than a hero is a hero failing that they can pile on.

edit: either way that doesn't answer the question at hand. IF the pressure of MJ's shadow is so hard to overcome in Chicago, how will he handle the pressure of the NY media?

I would be disappointed somewhat; it depends on what team it is but most likely he feels he cant win here or he values loyalty more which I can respect him for more TBH

If he doesn't come to the Bulls, i'll still think he's one of the best talents i've ever seen in the league. I'll also do the same thing I do for every opposing player of the Bulls and hope we wipe the floor with his team.

As for the second question, hard to answer a question without first seeing how EVERYTHING played out.

I'd like to chime in here for a moment. This is just my own opinion but I feel like Gloria James is a big reason that LBJ would go to Chicago. I heard a little about how attention seeking she is from a friend I have working in an upscale restaurant out here in LA, how she kind of demands to have people admire her for the sake of of being Lebron's mom. But I think the social circles of the old east coast are kind of tough to break into. Growing up in the west suburbs, I feel like the schmoozey but low-baller social circles out in Chicago would be the best. She'd be worshiped in whatever country club out here. Lebron seems like a mommas boy and I don't think Cleveland is the best social situation for his mom.

Well, I'll give you one thing. It's certainly an angle I have not heard of.

Return to Chicago Bulls
