I'll answer that quickly: No.

The Bulls aren't going to be able to dump any of their contracts. They're locked into Rose/Deng/Boozer/Noah.

They were able to dump Hinrich last summer. Every single one of Deng, Booz and Noah have value. Ralph reported that NJ, WAS, and ORL all had interest in Booz. I am sure there are teams who would take Deng or Noah as well, probably more so Noah. Honest to god if your GarPax and Rose and or Booz come to you and say Dwight wants to come here if you can offer him X amount per year for X years, you have to move on that. But without that type of knowledge you cant take the risk.

Another thing to add is in the owners proposal there was a two year phase which means Morrow's contract wouldn't hurt us if the NBA does indeed have a hard.

Last week in a verbal proposal they added a extra year. Why is this good you ask? That means at worst we'd have 3 years before the hard cap would be in effect. Guess who's contract just so happens to expire at that time, Monta Ellis.

Things are starting to make sense

Morrow just doesn't add enough. We should after Henderson of Charlotte with that type of deal. Watson would be a good fit for them and we could have a good backup 2 in GHen. Neither player should start for this team next year.

We just went to the Eastern Conference Finals and we're considering salary dumps of our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best players? If Howard comes here it's certainly not going to be through free agency. Personally I think the Howard speculation is a wild goose chase.

While anything can happen (it only takes one bad GM)....there are only a couple teams under the cap that even come close to making sense as far as throwing +MLE money at Smith.

I would say NJ is out biggest worry....and they are keeping an eye on 2012 cap room.

Of course they could also make us look like fools by clearing both a roster spot/playing time AND cap room by trading Morrow to US...and going after Smith themselves.

They wouldn't need us to do them that favor to have the cap room and would clearly find a taker for Morrow.

I'd rather take Morrow even if they get Smith than play the pride game, lose on Smith and not add Morrow to our roster.

Jamal and J-Rich will definitely ask for above MLE. The local Orlando guy was on CTL today to talk Howard and he even said that J-Rich is going to cost more than what Orlando wants to pay.

Minny, Wash and NJ could all use and go above MLE on a SG. Indy could even go for one of the SG as well.

I would do this trade

Boozer+Korver to Detrioit
Gordon + Rip+pick 8 to Chicago

Rose - CJ
Gordon - Rip
Deng - Brewer
Gibson - Draftee - Murphy
Noah - Asik - Thomas

or this trade

Boozer and Korver to DET
Gordon and Jamieson and Gibson to Chicago
Rip and CJ Watson + pick 8 to Cleveland

Rose - D.Gibson
Gordon - Draftee - Bogans
Deng - Brewer
T.Gibson - Jamieson - Draftee
Noah - Asik - Thomas

If it is a true hedge, we would basically pretend like Morrow isn't on the team come July 1st....and if the CBA is OK (MLE wise and cap wise), we would go about looking for a legit starting SG. If that is the plan...I'm OK with that.

The Bulls FO of seasons past would use this as a cop out. Everything said by the FO this season and especially this offseason point to this not being a cop out, and it being a hedge. It's a very wise plan if you ask me.

If I asked you really nicely could you find it in your heart to dump that annoying sig? Who wants to look at that? :-?

I'm fine with Morrow if the CBA comes out OK....and we look to dump him the next day.

And I'm sure they can find a taker for Morrow....which is part of what confuses me. If the reason why they are moving Morrow is to clear 2012-13 cap space....and they can easily move him....why are they doing it now....for CJ Watson...a player who would end up being their 3rd string PG? (not to mention such a move would leave them without a SG).

As far as those other teams go....Minny is looking to dump Beasley to create a better atmosphere. I don't think they are bringing in Smith.

Washington is the lowest IQ team in the league...not a good place for Smith...and if they do go after Smith, that would put Young in play as a free agent.

The Nets, Hornets, and Suns along with maybe the Mavs (over the cap), Knicks (over the cap) or Celtics (over the cap) are the only teams that somewhat bother me. All of them have elite PG's and open spots at SG. But again....I don't know if Smith is the kind of guy you want to overpay to have him play 24-28 mpg.

I found it hilarious, but since the Finals are over, I guess I should class it up a bit.

I am saying that if Howard made his intentions known yes I would dump anyone except Rose, and you would to. But that is the only circumstance under which I would pursue him via free agency.

IF Jamison was younger and could be our starter for the next 3 or seasons maybe I would do that. However this trade does not improve the current core group. DET doesn't want more salary, I'm sure we can get Gordon without trading Booz.

They have the 27th and being told to slide down one spot they'll get another 1st two picks away. That's good for NJ who could use more than one pick. Getting cheap controllable talent is smart for them.

As a side note, I asked my buddy to see if this was a Bulls proposal or Nets. Hopefully I'll find out.

Oh wait my bad. Didnt realize. And I just looked and Jamison expires after the coming season. Cool. But to be honest my statement regarding DET still stands, I dont see them taking on Booz's deal, all signs point to them trying to reduce payroll. Also, I'm not sure I would take the gamble for a trade, ORL could very well get a better offer elsewhere and or refuse to deal with us. I would do that if it could get us far enough under the cap to sign him outright AND if I knew he wanted to be there though.
