There were a loooooooooooot of complaints about how they didn't do anything during the trade deadline. But look at them now.

This has got to be the best off season in Bulls history, and that's not being overly dramatic. Sure, we still haven't hit the top tier superstar in free agency as yet, but look at the talent upgrade. Vuc and DeRozan are allstar level talent. Ball is a starter quality player who is still very young and on an upside. This is huge.

And again, we are just building legitimate talent, and assets, who are going to be moveable if need be, for who knows, maybe a player of the likes of Lillard. Who knows, but it feels extremely odd to have this much valuable talent on this roster.

Now pay Zach, and get to work!

Honestly, the best off season in Bulls history was 1984, when we drafted MJ. 8-)

But the last 24 hours have been unreal, considering how many times I've read that AKME f'ed up by doing the Vuc trade, because - and I quote - "we won't have any assets this summer to improve the team".

Also something to remember, we worked as a team over the cap to make all these moves. We didn't go the route of creating as much space as possible, but instead, used existing assets to acquire talent. And we have only added to that talent/asset pool for the future.

I'm glad you added that, I almost wrote a 3rd paragraph saying basically the same thing.

We didn't use cap space, and we didn't have to renounce any of our free agents. So we still have the Full MLE and the BAE to add more depth.

Even being as optimistic as I've been, I still didn't see this many great moves being done this quickly.

i honestly don't like the contract, but i'm excited to see where this goes. gotta have money to pay zach's next contract, so i'll have to check the potential salary numbers to see how that looks next year. guess they could always just go way over whatever cap since we'll have bird rights....but how much of a deviation would that be from what we typically see from JR?!?

and lauri and coby are some interesting question marks still.

danny green, jj redick still out there to help shore up our shooting...see if we get to snag either.

birch would be a great get for a backup big. couple other options still out there, as well.

job's not done yet. still gotta see where these other chips fall.

I know this team won't win a title but I'm so unbelievably excited right now. This makes us relevant and gives us a ton of flexibility to make moves if we need to, though the lack of draft picks will make things a little difficult.

I know everyone is scared to say it but why can't this team contend? How many top 4s are better?

I love Zach LaVine. I think he's never been in a position to win. I think this is his time. I also think that if AKME is feeling really frisky it might be worth having a quick internal debate if we should trade him for Beal or Lillard.

Obviously LaVine, Ball, and hopefully Williams and Coby can be part of a retool when DeRozan and Vuc age out but those guys probably are more likely to help us win now. I love Zach, but just throwing that out in the universe.

Seems like every time recently we’re like “the Bulls are fun/relevant again!” it turns into a tire fire. I just hope this time its different.

I'm angling for Lauri and White to be traded for some draft capital now. And figure out a Caruso S&T to keep the MLE and split that for some depth signings for 22/23.

I'm old and thought I'd seen it all, but my head is spinning. HUGE talent upgrade and mostly great fits. Agree with Duck that Ball makes it work. DeRozen's age is a concern, but not for this season. What's clear is that AKME ain't f'ing around.

I'm excited AF, like the general ballsiness and willingness to wheel and deal especially throwing around picks which I don't value. BUT, as talented as it is, there are some seriously fit concerns here. We could be a contender or even miss the playoffs. Looking forward to what Donovan tries.

We went from "if we develop our young players, we could be back in the playoffs" to "if we develop our young players, we could be contenders."

At least we keep our pick next year. So the earliest the Spurs could get our pick is in the year 2025
