We as a base still has to understand that this Bears offense is going to struggle out gate but be patient.

Personally, I'm not taking these reports about Caleb as any indication as to how the offense is going to perform to start the season. New coach, new system, new line. You're 100 percent correct that its going to take time.

What I'm taking from these reports is as simple as is Caleb meeting expectations. Im sure Ben has some, and I trust Ben's direction. Early reports came out that he wasn't. These reports are now changing. Let's just keep going in that direction.

Caleb is talented as all get out, but his success won't be from magic nor from luck.

With all that said, wtf is going on with your phone and your posts? Do you not see how your post are formatted AFTER your post? I Imagine its some kind of glitch and you dont see it before, but surely you're seeing it after?

Pressure? LOL. Move on? Just cut it out.

The narrative around Caleb is so ridiculous. National media is shameless, and local media is no different. Fans have to be better at discernment.

They scored 17 first quarter points ALL YEAR.

He was playing from behind a ton and moved the ball well when the defense is in prevent but when the defense was actually was keyed in on him - he was largely ineffective.

I was at the Seahawks game, I watched every game. They got blown out by the Patriots, at home. They beat the Cardinals handily in the second half of 2023 and got blown out last year.

I just think it's important to consider the full context — being a rookie, having inconsistent coaching, and playing on a team with gaps all matter.

The back-and-forth debate gets exhausting. At the end of the day, people tend to lean either optimistic or pessimistic, and that colors everything.

That's true about people seeing the glass half empty or half full. My feeling is, why not just let the season play out and see what they do? To condemn Poles at this point in his makeover of the team, or to claim Caleb is going to suck- we don't have enough evidence one way or another yet, so why not just see what happens this year- we'll know soon enough.

I'm not sure what to think. I had expectations that rookie QB's are going to look a lot like Caleb did last year, but then seeing what Stroud did 2 years ago and Daniels last season, my expectations rose and by comparison, Caleb looked very middling. Were there outside factors impacting him, no doubt. Can he still become elite, sure. I'll be optimistic we see a much better Caleb this season, but if we don't, given the construction of our offense, then I think it might be time to move on or just bring in competition.

Apparently Burden caught a TD pass from Caleb today; he was over the middle and did get bumped after the catch so might not have actually scored if they were in pads. Still, good to see Burden running routes against the defense and moving pain free (fingers crossed).

And fwiw I'm pretty sure that during minicamp in a couple of pressers, players/coaches when asked about the offense gelling suggested maybe by week 5 or after the bye week things should be more fluid....and slowly improving as the season progresses.

Apparently they've been working some plays with DJ coming out of the backfield. Ben says the plan is to use him in different ways to get him the ball where he can use his running ability.

He also complemented Caleb on how well he has been preparing and the improvements he's made.

I'm as big as a Caleb fan as anyone, but the throws that are being clipped as highlights look like entry level NFL QB throws. None look impressive. Not this one, nor the one DJ is hit on the sidelines with. And folks are claiming that one was a dart.

I hope Caleb hits because if not, we are going to hear how the Bears fumbled, but in reality, I don't think there's anything reasonably they could do if Caleb fails.

I'm not a QB expert, but that throw looked pretty impressive to me. Evading the defense, stepping up in the pocket and throwing off one foot to the opposite sideline. It looked like a dart to me.

Dennis Allen says that CB2 position is "totally up for grabs". Among Tyrique, Terrel Smith, and Nashon Wright.

I've always liked Terrel Smith.
But to be fair, I've always disliked Tyrique.

Braxtons left leg looks soooo skinny. I don’t think he’s starting for us. He needs way more time on recovery. But he’d probably be great as our swing tackle.

He’s gonna get bull rushed even moreso

depends on whether he can effectively plant on his right leg. moving to the outside will certainly be tougher. as will run blocking

PFF likes terrel better too

nahshon wright? a guy who's barely played in 4 years? can't believe he'd start, but it probably means he's got a roster spot locked anyway

from K Fishbain
- Johnson says today's practice will be the longest, toughest all camp
- Johnson also said with regards to CB Jaylon's timetable, there's a scenario where JJ will be ready week 1
- Gervon prefers nose tackle and he's playing that position more this year; being next to Grady helps Dex stay low

late edit: all this except the Dexter info can be heard during Ben's presser about 2 hr ago; he also talked about Burden, Frazier, etc

Smith has outplayed his spot on the depth chart his entire career and has great size. I think the thing that has worked against him a bit is that when he has gotten an opportunity to be a CB2, he wasn't anything special. Not bad by any means, but nothing that makes you say "we have to play him as much as possible"

This is bs. This is why I miss Platteville. We we're right there next to the field. Player's went into town at night. Great experience.
