Let's be honest, if Young was dark skinned and didn't look like a prematurely balding elf, his size and athleticism wouldn't be questioned nearly as much.

Kyrie has a much better handle and ability to finish through contact. I have no problem with his athleticism but his handle is no where close to where Kyrie was and that made Kyrie such a dynamic prospect.

I don't disagree, Kyrie might have the best pure handles of any player in NBA history. But he is also nowhere near the playmaker Young is, either.

Young's best asset is actually his playmaking but it seems like people don't even notice it, instead just watching his three-point attempts as if he's just a Boobie Gibson or something.

I agree that he is young just like Ayton, Bagley,JJJ, Bamba. Like I said give me anyone of these guys and I would be thrilled. But it will only get harder for Doncic in the NBA. The thing Doncic has going for him is that he seems to legitimately love playing basketball and those guys do seem to improve. But in order for him to be great those attack handles need to improve to overcompensate for his lack of burst and first step.

His first step and burst are fine it’ll take him a little bit to get acclimated to the speed of the game and to get his body in peak NBA form but it’ll happen

Your earlier example about the switch leading to a bad shot is what won’t happen that’s not him.

His first step and burst is average at best. And I’ve seen Doncic have to settle for step back j’s due to his inability to get separation.

And what, it's going to get easier for Ayton, Bagley, JJJ and Bamba? :dontknow:

If anything, the adjustment will be easier for Doncic than the other guys, considering he's been playing against grown-ass professionals instead of a bunch of kids.

Doncic has already played 42 games this year, and 67 last year. It's going to be much, much easier for a guy who's used to playing 60+ games a season to adjust to an 82-game schedule than for guys who will play 40 this year at the most (if their team gets to the NCAA Championship Game).

Actually, his number of played games is much higher that this.

From october 2016 (start of 2016/17 season) till today he played 133 official matches (Real and Slovenia NT in Eurobasket). And on top of that extra 10 preparation matches for Slovenian NT before Eurobasket.

So 143 games in 17 full months (on average almost 8,5 matches/month) without almost no break at all (he had maybe three weeks rest in Summer 2017 before start of preparation for Eurobasket).

It is completly normal that he hit a phisical wall and it won't get easier for him till end of this season. He will play additional 30 - 40 matches in next 4 months (depends how far Real will go in Euroleague and in Spain league, but you can expect that Luka will play closer to 40 games than 30 games).

In all that time he missed two games (due to the Illness).

So take all that facts into consideration when you evaluate his current "not good phisical shape and slow movement". He didn't look that way at all at the beginning of the season when he put goodly numbers in Euroleague.

I do believe, if somebody will evaluate Doncic based on last few games or even games that will follow till end of the season, and choose based on that somebody else, will have a lot to think about in the future...

Where do we find Doncic's measurements/pre-draft stuff? I thought someone had posted it a while back and they were very comparable to someone like Gordon Hayward..indicating Doncic is more athletic than what most people seem to believe

I hate when people score watch and go "oh boy, the team we want to win is ahead at the half!"

at the half....it's an NBA game, you should only get your hopes up when there's a minute left in the 4th quarter

What is known is that Doncic was measured 34.5" max vert in summer of 2016 (same as Hayward at Combine), as well as that his lateral mobility results were almost identical to Aaron Gordon's at same training facility (P3) (at Combine Gordon posted 10.8 sec agility test time, while Hayward did it in 11.75)
He is 6'7 without shoes, so closer to 6'9 with shoes, and appx. 225-230 lbs at the moment. His wingspan should be between 6'10 and 7 feet.

As far as Hayward comparison goes, at the same age Doncic is slightly bigger and longer, similarly explosive and more fluid, as far as data tells it. If his athletic outcome is Hayward or slightly better athlete, I think that part of the game won't hold him back.

We're drafting like 7th-10th, Doncic will be off the board. Wave bye bye to Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, etc.

What about trading the pick for both of Philadelphia's 1st round picks? Then the Bulls come out with 3 1st round picks in a loaded draft. They even have an abundance of 2nd round picks as well.

He's a solid team defender, so most likely.

Sure, if he's guarding the 3, and not facing one of the elite small forwards.

Personally, I'm more concerned about him developing into a knockdown three point shooter. He'll need to improve that aspect of his game if he's going to live up to the hype.

I think it's still possible we draft 5th or 6th. I don't see us out tanking all these teams. But Brooklyn may surpass us in wins, and maybe Dallas.

Honestly, I don't hate it. But I would love JJJ, Bamba, or of course Ayton. And Micheal Porter may grow on me if I get to see him play a few college games.

Mikal is gonna be good for us. Not superstar ceiling but imo he looks like a more talented version of Luol Deng. 40% from 3 with elite level defense is nothing to scoff at

Mikal Bridges has sneaky upside. I would not be mad with him. He's a very good player.

Mock draft:
1.Phoenix-Ayton
2.Atl-Porter Jr.
3.Dallas- Doncic
4. Sac-Bagley
5. Orlando-Young
6.Memphis-JJJ
7.Chicago- Bamba

Sure i like Bamba but it be nice to get a shot at one of the perimeter guys. Minus Young because he have Dunn.
Most of the board would take any of the top 7’s bigs over Trae Young anyways so the point is moot.
Except for one guy im sure. Lol.

If our board LOVES doncic so much, why not dallas.
At Number 4, while young is enticing Bagley is still seen as a future franchise player. Can not pass.
At five i feel Young is more proven. Too much offense to pass up for a team that needs a point guard.
