So here's where we are...still. We can keep or cut Stanley for the 15th roster spot. I just don't see a reason to keep him, with DJJ on the roster and Pat back. IMO, we should go sign Galloway or Avery Bradley with that spot.

Not sure what's happening with our 2-way deals. I'd like us to dump Dotson, who isn't NBA material right now, but I think we keep him out of misguided loyalty. Looks like we resigned Baxter...not sure what he was signed to, but I'd be fine with him or Matt Thomas on the 2nd 2-way contract.

Baxter was obviously signed to put him in the G-League, so that makes sense. But I’m actually kind of surprised they waived Stan. Will Matt Thomas get the spot or will they leave it open?

I'm hoping the spot to Galloway, Avery Bradley or Bell and the 2-way to Thomas or some other high potential cast off.

Interestingly I saw that both Archi and Harrison were cut loose.

Thomas got the final regular roster spot, according to Mayberry.

Thomas is on a non-guaranteed contract so why not just keep him until they need the slot for someone else?

Do we know the guarantee date? Didn’t see it on Spotrac.

johnson was like, the most redundant possible deep bench player for this roster. total no-brainer to cut him imo

Thanks! Yeah, definitely makes sense to give it to Thomas then…at least for now.

We're still over by 1 roster spot, right? Someone still has to go.

Alize plays at 5 and Ayo plays the 2 (so far we've seen).
I don't want Ayo to be a 1, he would never see the floor other than extreme garbage time behind Lonzo/Caruso.

I'm guessing that is why he didn't make the cut. I do wonder if Stanley would have been a defensive reinforcement against the bigger PFs in the league, like Zion and Giannis. Pat is listed at 215 lbs, and Alize at 212. Meanwhile, Stanley Johnson was listed at 242 lbs. It's doesn't seem like an issue against most teams, with the league tending smaller and more skilled, but against a few teams, we may miss Johnson's strength and defensive skills.

That being said, Alize clearly plays bigger than he is. He is really something.

(I agree, it just looks better that way)
