Re: Options to fix the PF hole
I'm glad we'll have some time to see if/how McKinnie fits in the line-up. IMO, we can try him next to DJJ (playing C) off the bench.
Also, I want to see if Bell and his newly found passing prowess can fit for us, but with guys coming back, it will be tough to get a read during his 10 day contract.

I honestly don't really know, how good is Grant from Detroit?

He's a solid player. He has good measurables 6'8 with a 7'3 wingspan. A good athlete, a good defender and has a respectable 3 ball. He'd thrive in a complementary role so it's not really a surprise he's a popular trade target here and around the NBA.

Herb Jones. Rookie 6’7 wing with +7 wingspan and 8’10 reach who has been playing 4 for them and impressing on the defensive end.
Would cost, at minimum, the Portland pick and Simonovic (salary plus some theoretical upside value). If could get him for that, I would be all over it in a flash, though. Love the fit with what Billy and AKME trying to do, and also cheap contract for two more years after this.

Should have tried Biyombo. Played with DeMar in Toronto. Nice piece alongside Vuce and DeMar up front to defend and rebound.

He's a fantastic 3 & D 4 with decent range when open and the mobility and length that lets him defend multiple positions. He has found a situation in DET where he has to/gets to shoulder the load of being the primary scoring option for a team and frankly he's below average at that role.
He fits very well with the Bulls team, and provides almost everything this team needs from his position, on paper. I imagine the concern for this team in a hypothetical would be, he's been Batman for a season and a half now, but his role on this team would be Alfred. Is he able and/or willing to put down the cape and be a supporting role on this team? They say winning cures everything, but i'm not every players personality can handle going from being the star on a bad team to being a role player on a good one. I dont know anything about Grants personality, but that would be the major red flag to the Bulls, aside from cost to acquire.

I think unless we find a can’t pass up deal, we can probably get a great option on the buyout market. We are gonna be the top landing spot for those guys.
Also, we still have the TPE too.

Pistons fan here. Grant's personality is very professional. Great teammate. As a Pistons fan, I want this deal to happen so the Pistons nab P. Williams. I honestly feel the trade would work beautifully for both teams. Grant would work great with the Bulls, and at a position not only of need for the team, but guarding the exact position most needed in the East.(Giannis, KD, e.t.c.)HearshotKDS wrote:ikeziskash wrote:I honestly don't really know, how good is Grant from Detroit?

I'm just looking at timeline here, as Grant would be great if the Pistons weren't the worst team in the league. He just doesn't fit for when the team will finally start getting good again. As for the Bulls, Derozan's window is the next few years. Do you want to wait and hope Williams becomes Grant, or go for it now? I really believe the addition of Grant will put the Bulls on a championship level, able to compete against the East, and West alike.
We'll see what happens.

How is Grant's defense vs physical guys? How is his physicality in general? His rebounding numbers are pretty poor for a player of his length. My concern with him is that he's a soft finesse SF type, which is not what the Bulls need.
More to the point, the Bulls need someone who has some hope of slowing down Giannis. How well has he done that? Looking at the stats for this season, Giannis had huge games vs you guys which is not encouraging.

Re: Options to fix the PF hole
I'll offer DJJ, Simovevic, and Portland first rounder for Christian wood. If push comes to shove, I'll add another 1st rounder or two second rounders to make it work. Trade saves them about one year of 13-14 mil, allows them to properly tank, and frees up the pf mins to their pf rookie.

Re: Options to fix the PF hole
Grant is not a finesse type of player, far from it. He is physical, and his defense is stout. He has a knack for recovering for the behind the back shot block,(he averages over a block a game)and when he drives the lane, he looks to crush it at the rim.logical_art wrote:zeebneeb wrote:Pistons fan here. Tough guy, that really plays hard.
*edit* as for defense vs the elites, you have to remember there is no one to help Grant when Giannis gets to deep. Its just Stewart. Vucevic would be a huge help. One on one he does just fine, but they often use a switch to get Stewart on Giannis, not Grant. The Pistons are horrific at switching as well.
Trust me, Grant's defense would be great with Lonzo, and Caruso.

Don't care if he's a head case. We have enough winners on this team to keep leash on him. He averages about 10 boards, 1 steal, and 1 block per game at pf. In addition to that, he can shoot the three at a decent rate, and score the basket at a decent efficiency that will likely go even higher with Lavine and Derozen on the team.

Following the Wood thread on the general board.....there are a lot of red flags with him. Something to keep in mind.
Jealousy is a sickness.......get well soon....

Theyre completely different players. Grant is a modern PF/SF that can handle the ball and score iso. Wood is more of a modern C. I like Grant's fit here much more. I would obviously take either, though.

Warming up to Jerami Grant more, especially with the Denver connection and some positive reports out of DET.
Pat, DJJ, Troy Brown Jr (inserting him instead of Coby) plus a 1st... is that enough for Detroit?
