He has zero skills as of today. He has elite defensive traits but has virtually everything to learn offensively. I like him though.

He only first touched a basketball 3-4 years ago. The team drafting him would be committing to teaching him basketball like a HS or college.

Historically this has been a real problem with Chicago. I remember the vets on the Curry/Chandler team ripped the organization because they drafted high schoolers than did nothing to teach or train them, just threw them out there and then complained when they weren't winning games with a HS level of skill & IQ. Chandler eventually found some mentoring on other teams and turned into a championship level center.

Is Chicago going to commit long term to someone like Beringer? I'm skeptical given everything AK has said about winning now and needing shortcuts to a win ASAP.

There's zero chance AK takes Beringer. Whomever we take, he's very likely to be one of the safer ones. No way AK goes for the most raw guy in our range.

He's a 6’11” barefoot, 7’4.5” wingspan with a 9’3” standing reach athlete. He's got a lot of basketball development to go.

Newest mock. They are usually dialed better than anybody closer to the draft. I they are spot on for top 9 picks. Then it gets really weird.

Don’t think AK passes on KJ Noa or Demin.

In 2005 maybe not in 2025.

I was going to comment on this as well, and have seen it repeatedly in recent years. I don't know if its a reputation thing or if in fact nbadraft.net has been more accurate than others. Without doing any comparisons, I can say I stopped paying attention to nbadraft.net as being a worthwhile mock many years ago. Their projections often seem way off base to me. But I really don't know.

Well I'm bored enough I did some very light research into it. Checked mock drafts for 2023 for accuracy for the top 15 picks only.
10 points for getting a name exactly, -1 point per position off, with a floor of 0. Results were interesting to me.

I don't really care. I don't mean that to be dismissive of your opinion. I mean there are two things about the current team I consider in evaluating who to draft:

1. Josh Giddey
2. Matas Buzelis

That's the list. Its BD's job to coach the roster he gets and to make logical use of the players on it. If he fails, he fails and that's on him. But I don't consider that in determining what "should" happen.

I also don't accept the common opinion that BD is a rigid coach. He's had **** rosters that made no sense and did what he did. I fully believe he will adapt strategies as the roster changes. If he does not, well then he needs to go. But its irrelevant to my draft or positional analysis.

I’ll give you the crap rosters.

We get CMB he will be playing the 5.
Same for Noa.
I’m here for it too. I think lineups with them at the 5 could give us a fresh way to play and run like crazy.

CMB shouldnt be playing center on legit serious team, he is 6'7, even if he has 7'0 wingspan and I also hope Essengue isnt forced to play center.

6’8 with 7’2 wingspan. He’s tough and physical. He could be elite at short stretches at the 5. Put length next to him in Buz at 6’10.

Agreed.

Also don’t think he will take a big that has no offense or skill. If he does it will in the 2nd. Most likely Rocco. Giddey’s bro from Oz.

I think those first 10 picks are right unless there is a trade up for Ace.

Smoke has been VJ over Ace for Sixers.
Wiz want Fears
Pels love Queen
Ace wants BKN
Raps won’t pass Maluach
CMB to Rockets but I think Suns will be making this pick.

Now KJ Coward for me.

Believe we need to come out of this draft with a future C. Ideally Beringer or Kalkbrenner with a later 1st.

POR pick should get a 20ish pick with 45. AK won’t want 3 rookies.

Honestly, don't see the problem with playing Giddey with two guards, regardless of what position you call him. As long as he's still pushing the offense. He's 6'8, if we have Matas and a center on the court we can't be considered playing small, even if we have two tiny guards. But Ball is 6'6, White's 6'5", Ayo is 6'5', Huerter is 6'7", Terry 6'7". Our guards are the same height as a lot of teams SF's. At least until we have two forwards capable of beating out the guards for minutes. P Will doesn't get to play way more than Huerter if Huerter is way more effective, for instance. Huerter can get more SF minutes at 6'7".

Regardless of what position you call him, you still want somebody on the court who can guard faster and smaller players with him at the very least.

His athleticism is 'elite', he's still learning defensively and let's not mention his offense.

He's got a long way to go as a basketball player, IMO.

Essengue only played 12 minutes. He was -11 tonight, so maybe that's the reason for the low minutes. Worth noting that Bayern had the best record in the German league and was the only German team to play in the Euroleague. Bayern is probably the best team he's played, and Essengue has been ineffective in his 5 matchups against them.

Now you got me thinking my initial day 1 opinion of Noa NOT having dawg in him nor a skill set worthy of the NBA level was accurate. Fleming is so much more developed. Coward too.

Tough decision on our hands... I'm lying if I said I wasn't nervous!

I haven't been all that high on Kasparas Jakucionis, especially if the Bulls picked top 6 (I don't know why).

But if he's there at 12, that's a no brainer.

A Jakucionis/Giddey/Matas core is a terrific start, especially for trading a defensive role player, an 11th pick and a 12th pick.

Saraf with a strong game and Noa with another no show.

Hope this helps Noa drop to us!

I don't trust AK to make that move, but it's a good idea. One issue is roster space, but the Bulls can figure that out later.

No Coby? Do you think the Bulls should trade him?

I mention Coby because he's still young and the team will need scoring. KJ/Giddey/Matas will all score points, but I don't see them as players who average 20 a game (not that they need to).

Defense is also a concern, but that's something they can figure out down the road (or with a trade).

In terms of fit, I'd be interested in the Bulls drafting Danny Wolf. Good rebounder for his position and can provide some help-side defense. We really haven't had a forward/center type with size capable of scoring since Pau Gasol. Move Buzelis to the 3 and then start Collins or Smith (assuming Vuc is moved).

Giddey/Ball/Carter
White/Huerter
Buzelis/Dosunmu/Terry
Wolf/Williams/Phillips
Collins/Smith

If they can get a young big like that...sure, but who? If they trade him I think they should just get picks and a contract that isn't long term (or if it is...get more picks).

That way it gives AK something to work with (picks are NBA currency), but I doubt AK will actually do a trade like that.
