This is why player development is so important. If you develop your players and get the culture correct...it will help elevate the franchise without having to swing for the fences. That's not the model Denver used and I doubt it will be the one AK uses.
I do feel they will go after FA's but I do not feel that AK's plan is simply to back on a big ticket signing or trade.

I think most people assume(because they dislike the flaws)that the talk of AK and Evs liking the core was all fluff. They are likely to simply build around and continue to add to instead of tear it down and flip pieces for future assets.

What you describe takes time. Not a day, not a month, not a year. I think the time table is much shorter.

Building anything takes time to do it right. We have talent on the team, we just need to create a culture and develop it along with the players.
I'm not worried about how much time it takes. Just do it right.

I'm not disagring but I don't think the Reinsdorfs are willing to miss the playoffs for 5 straight years.

I don't expect a good team overnight, but a great FO can change perception overnight. You can move in the right direction without winning. You notice right away when the tank's cleaned, I.E. the Nets circa 2017-19. Things hit rock bottom for them in 2016. Then Marks took over, Atkinson got the coaching job, and with no assets to work with, Nets got a respectable 4-5 player core after 1 year, and much to everyone's surprise, they basically are in position to be better than Boston after King fumbled a near-decade of all-star assets.

So honestly, I do kind of expect the culture to be on-track pretty much after this bizarro/shortened season coming up. I expect 20/21 to involve roster decisions (trades, deciding Coby/Wendell/Lauri's positions or futures on this team) and installing a system. It'd be an unexpected surprise if they won .500. I expect more of a .350-.450 record, but the losses don't look so bad.

We're gonna have Mo Cheeks on the bench. With Donovan running the show and having rapport, this coaching staff is simply not gonna put up with any 23yo whining about his minutes or shots, and at the same time, these guys have great reputations with communication and player relationships. There's gonna be dialogue and there's gonna be accountability.

It's almost laughable comparing this crew to Boylen and Hoiberg.

That's a big jump. I think its an aggressive expectation.

You don't have to miss the playoffs for multiple years to build that type of team. You need development from your players and buy in to their coaches system.

So you think we make the playoffs next year? That's even more aggressive for the team as is.

I do. #4 pick coming in, player development focus, HC aligned with the FO and wants to win.
If the Bulls are healthy, I don't see how we do not make the playoffs.

Ok, I don't share that optimism. I think the FO and coach are greatly improved but I think it will take time to implement the system and develop players. I also feel they are all still really young and lack a real star.

The dysfunctional Boylen bulls were right at the edge of 8th seed until injuries hit wcj and dunn. Any kind of improvement, less injuries and some luck and we should be in the playoffs

That's only your opinion with which I heavily disagree one. But I respect you think that way. Just dont let be dissapointed when we marginally improve our record with new fo, coach and 4th pick.

I think it's kind of crazy to expect these guys with injury histories to magically improve and be healthy this year.

I think we can make the playoffs if healthy, but that isn’t saying we are really a playoff team. Sub .500 still but maybe squeaking in. I do expect though this team to be much more watchable.

I also agree there is no way MR is waiting for 5 years to be in the playoffs, he will expect a showing the season after this. They spent too much money and time on a new look that they will want payoff. Maybe not Michael himself but the investors who own a larger share than he does will demand it. Their cash cow got shot this year and it is going to be bleeding for a few years, yet they spent money, there has to be a noticeable turn around in the next 24 months.

I think we will be healthy and have better cohesion this season. Not really concerned with the youth. We are talented enough to make the playoffs in the East.

With good draft pick or one good trade this team can and should make playoffs if everyone will be healthy.. Big IF for fragile Bulls!

Yeah I think we have a team good enough to at least make it to the proposed play-in for the 7th-8th seed. Hopefully the new medical staff can keep the team healthy.

Glad the NBA is back! It's been a while since we saw the Bulls play.

We don't even need a trade. Just health, a good draft pick at #4 and a functional offense.

but when you look at the east the top 7 teams might stay the same. Atlanta could also make a leap if they can get a solid vet in there. Curious what happens with Indy and their grumpy 2 best players and what Toronto does with their ageing vets.
