I know, because I broke mine punching a german guy in the head years ago when he grabbed my wife at a party. Of course, I did tell the doctor I fell too. :)

this is indeed a boxer's fracture but that is only the name for it and punching something is the classic mechanism of injury but that does not mean it the ONLY mechanism of injury. I had a patient today who has a boxer's fracture but her explanation was such that her fall makes total sense, actually much more sense than punching a wall given her size and strength. I don't know the details of boozer's injury, but i think it is unfair to immediately assume that he's lying just cuz you looked up something on the internet and injured yourself in the classic manner. sure it's suspicious, but hardly conclusive.

yeah, and certainly he would have come up with a better excuse than "i tripped over a bag".

That is true, but was your patient a world class athlete? (Or was she an 80 year old with frail bones?)

He tripped over a gym bag between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.

Was it that dark in his house?
Was he running at full speed?
He said he didn't land with an open palm, but he didn't say he hit something on the way down. I'm assuming he landed on tile or a hardwood floor (instead of carpet).
Was the gym bag so heavy that a 265 pound man (with 5% body fat I might add) didn't budge the bag?

He very well could be telling the truth....it just seems like a very odd injury at a very odd time of day.

like i said, it is suspicious but anyone being careless can trip over something and something does not have to be heavy to make you trip.

for the record, she was not a world class athlete (a 20-something woman who should not have brittle bones yet) but that might actually work against boozer because of his height and weight.

My god, leave the guy alone. If he and Rose want to go eat apples at midnight let them. Neither has the sorts of "character issues" that warrant this sort of fine-combing of their personal lives.

So Boozer's wife divorced him because he tripped on a bag at night and let down Bulls fans all over the world?

No, here's what happened.

Boozer and his wife have been trying to file for divorce for a while now. He finds out she cheated on him with James Johnson, and knowing he can't do anything to him, he decided to punch a wall and broke his hand (Boozer does not realize his hand is broken yet). With the power invested in James Johnson, he magically placed Boozer's gym bag on the ground, shut off his electricity, and rang his doorbell, because he knew Boozer took his anger for Johnson out on the wall. The last person you want to have anger for is James Johnson. Anyway, Boozer, who already had a broken hand from punching the wall (but he doesn't realize this yet), runs to open the door and trips on his gym bag, thus destroying his hand.

However, the real question is...who was at the door? :o

Of course none of us knows for sure. But, based on Boozer's history of lying to Cleveland and then then being questioned by many Utah fans for how "injured" he was. While we all want to see him do incredible for the Bulls, this looks suspicious and the explanation just doesn't ring true for many of us.

Either way, I hope he comes back soon and has an all-star season. Do I wish he'd be honest with us, well sure, but I suppose he has a right to lie about who or what he may have punched. If it really was a tripping on a bag falling injury, well, he's way more clumsy off the court than on it.

I don't see how this looks "suspicious." Everyone's looking into it way too much, and searching for knowledge after the fact: Boozer is out 8 weeks. How it happens doesn't matter, and he likely isn't lying.

dude......c'mon.......tripping over a bag?????? if that was the case, i would have expected an injury to his wrist, forearm or elbow. but his hand??????

when i heard it, all i could think of was
1. house is too dark
2. house is too small
3.wt...was in the bag to cause a 6'9" 260+lb man "trip"
4. bs

I've heard weirder stories, like leaving a knife in your bed and getting cut. But Derrick isn't the type to lie either. **** happens, just take the fact. I highly doubt Boozer is in the lying mood after signing a major deal.

but then again what would he have to lose? most people will take it at face value and won't say or inquire anything more but Boozer story was weird to begin with.

I'm not gullible, but I'm not so eager to play detective either. There's no reason to. Athletes get injured in a lot of crazy ways.

Yeah...and they are usually doing someting stupid when it happens....

Like body surfing.....or riding a motorcycle/scooter.......or being drunk and falling down the stairs.......or shooting yourself in the leg at a night club...

It is rare that one goes to answer the door, trips over a gym bag and breaks their hand in a way that is similar to a what happens when you punch a wall....

My theory is that it was an enforcer Miami sent to pop a couple in his knees. However, Boozer tripped over the bag from his wife with his horse's head in it, panicked, and called 911 before he could open the door, which in turn foiled the kneepopping attempt (incidentally, this also answers the other real question of what's in the bag). All in all, it didn't turn out too badly considering that it could have been much worse had everything gone according to plan.

I know what REALLY happened....

Boozer (the good teammate that he is) was trying to help James Johnson and CJ Watson fight of off Floyd Mayweather and crew....

Boozer threw a pucnch, but forgot to compensate for how short Mayweather was, and ended up punching the wall above Mayweather's head......

The truth is so simple when you thing about it....
