Hard disagree. Competent shooter. Decent ball handler. His comp coming out was JR Smith. I believe that's his ceiling. His bball IQ is exceedingly low. His defense is non-existent. He's an ideal bum slaying 6th or 7th man microwave. I don't believe athleticism translates into potential. But as Coldfish wrote, we all see something different in Lavine.
Don't you think IQ can be coached up? Fred has to get Zach to play more of a team game, and humble him a little bit by treating him like just one of the young players that needs to be coached, instead of like an entitled star.
1) thibs couldn't coach him up
2) paying a guy a lot of money based on potential rather than production is a pretty good way to make him feel entitled
J.R. Smith btw, has a ring. And for the longest time Bulls fans were tossing his name about with the likes of O.J. Mayo and Arron Afflalo to be our starting 2 guard for those D.Rose era Thibs teams.
so we shouldn't be that concerned about overpaying a guy because we might succeed despite it?
j.r. cost the cavs a lot in luxury tax, btw. do you see the bulls paying tax in an attempt to cover up a mistake?
4 teams paid the tax this past season. JR has said in the past that he would only do so for a top 4 team (and the tax has become much more punitive in the meantime). paying zach lavine a lot of money is highly unlikely to help the bulls become a top 4 team
