First Take crew trying to shut them up talking about it's Valentine's day LMAO. Love it!
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Say what you will about Zach... he has done a great job in maturing in all aspects of his professional career. Dogging on him because he isn’t as impactful as Giannis or Lebron is fun and all but he was never projected out to be that guy. He didn’t get Wiggins money. He has show up in shape constantly improving, playing hard and being good with the media. Is he a marginal allstar type talent? Yeah but I am very glad to have him on this team.

Most of those in attendance though won’t be from Chicago and if they are they are the rich people there for the social media photo op. They most likely don’t even know who Gar Forman is. We care the rest of the NBA can give a rats ass about the situation though. Paxson is not a more interesting conversation than say Giannis FA or actually any player out on the court even the lowly Devin Booker. Sabonis is more interesting than our front office.

I am pretty sure the moniker "GarPax" came from this website. In effect, realgm bulls fans are the cutting edge on a lot of this and the casuals are in contact with the die hards through multiple channels.

I'll give internet points to the person who finds the first ever usage of the term "GarPax" on the internet. Again, I strongly suspect it was here.

Oh, that definitely started here.

It's time. This is what GarPax wanted. This is what they're gonna get. "Fire GarPax" must be chanted during the All Star game.

Actually IIRC, it started out here as Gar Paxson, then sometime later started getting shorted to Gar/pax

there is no specific usage of the name 'gar paxson' prior to mentions of garpax. this was the closest thing:

It's a weekend loaded with stars from around the NBA and the hosting city has none in the game. No all-stars, no winning team, a bleak future and you think chants won't happen? Ok...

Remember when GarPax split the vote for Executive of the Year thus enabling Pat Riley to co-win his only one such award?

I thought it reached max-level embarrassment when the host had to tell the fans to stop chanting.
Hoping they chant their lungs out all during the ASG. Gar-Pax ARE an embarrassment and karma's a bitch, and now there is
nothing they can do about it either except sit there and take it. You reap just what you sow in this life...

Lol karma? You act like picking the wrong players and coaches is some kind of moral failing.

This is actually very true and the reason that JR originally picked Pax for the job.

Pax is an extraordinary talent evaluator. And when he 1st arrived he was making outstanding drafts and trades.

But it took only a short time before that started to change because of his decision making being altered to avoid the Lux Tax.

It wasn't that he started making decisions and adjustments that would avoid the Lux Tax for the current season, but for all future seasons.

Everything would have crashed much sooner, but the Bulls got lucky in the draft and got Rose.

Derrick brought the MVP trophy to the team for the 1st time since Mj and gave the Bulls a new respect in the league that had been fading since MJ left.

Suddenly, FAs wanted to come to the Bulls.

And pax was able to ride that (even while the team was crumbling from the Lux Tax policies) until that momentum ran out.

Now we have the aftermath, and they can only hope that each time the Bulls go back to the lottery that they will get another franchise player.

But 3 successive failures were compounded by Pax's one true ability (again talent evaluation) also being corrupted by the draft also becoming centered around the team's Lux Tax policies.

Some of the opinions you read on this forum have become really warped due to the frustration.

Things that imply:
The front office is evil.
The front office doesn't want to win.
The front office doesn't care.
The front office isn't trying.

They may in fact be bad or need to be replaced, but almost everyone universally thought they had a great off season this year until the games started, and now they're ridiculously dumb again. It's just how sports works (and the same is true of the opinions of players as well and I'm sure I'm guilty of it too) but sometimes I take a step back and think it's really surreal how much people get dehumanized in these discussions so regularly.

While I agree with your post this is also part of GarPax's issue. They've created their brand and they've done nothing this year to try to change that. Instead of doing interviews and being publicly available they've decided to hide in their ivory tower while watching the worst coach in the NBA become the talking face of the franchise. Thats on them. Thats something they can control and they chose not too.

They started with and left us this season by saying this was going to be a playoff year. Meanwhile, this seasons pinnacle so far is the scorched earth that has been left behind their decisions. They have dug the hole and essentially have hidden in it.

So, with that, I think its fine for fans to have emotional outbursts. In this scenario, I actually agree with the outbursts and think it will help lead to necessary changes.

I'm not disagreeing with making a change or fire GarPax chants or voicing your opinion that you want a change.

I'm talking about how people, out of frustration, form opinions that are absurd. There are literally opinions on this forum implying the front office wants to punish fans, thinks the front office is literally evil, wants to lose purposefully, doesn't care about the team, etc... The absurdity of those things is what I'm talking about.

Beyond that, while this was an example, I was making the observation about all people in sports not just our FO, but players as well and across sports not just the NBA which is why I responded to a point about how people have confused job competency with morality.

I don't care if people want to fire the front office, or wear fire garpax shirts, or chant fire garpax at a game or event. I think wanting better performance from your front office is obvious and demanding that performance or demanding change is totally reasonable. I was more discussing when people slip from demanding job performance into forming personal opinions about the people involved.

Oh..! C'mon. Most of us know what the discussion is about. People bring up some extra things which have been reported such as Vinny's tie incident or bugging of Thibs's office etc. to add to their inability to put together a winning team.

We all know both are them are probably decent people. Sometimes, the words in forums don't come out the right way. It is about how ridiculous the Bulls situation is...that's the problem regardless of this year. This is not a one year problem but you are stretching some comments/opinions which are made in jest or in a different context.

Posters are smart....and they just disagree with your opinions but most are not like what you wrote.

What successful method? Turning in your draft pick cards.

Zach is improving while GarPax are getting worse even from their low levels. Zach is no break from anything. In the Jimmy trade, he was a happenstance.

a happenstance that they gave a big contract to coming off major injury w/o having proved himself? "alright, he can still jump high. give him the money." that makes no damn sense. it's quite obvious that they saw him as a, if not THE, primary piece in the butler deal. it was a gamble on low IQ talent. just like drafting tyrus thomas was. the antithesis of the "paxson way." zach is just working out a bit better

People are trying to justify for whatever reason to bring up the good things Pax did....that shouldn't matter as he is largely unsuccessful.

unless you're judging success on titles, that is factually false. pax was a very successful GM until the tank...which was kickstarted by his trade for zach lavine

This is a great chance for Reinsdorf to be embarrassed

jerry reinsdorf does not embarrass

Yes success is judged by titles not mediocrity. Without lucking into Rose Paxson’s best constructed team would have a ceiling of the second round. That’s the definition of being average. Now he is just bad as the game and new era has passed him by.
