WE SIGNED GARRETT TEMPLE!!!

I'm curious to all those critical of AK's moves thus far who they wanted to sign.

Cats are allowed to be critical, I’m side eying this signing for now. We’ll see how he meshes with the squad

Garrett was a class act here and especially in the locker room. He’s the perfect vet for the Bulls. He’s also extremely intelligent and you will soon see he’s probably got a future in either the front office, coaching staff of a team or could run for local politicians. Really brilliant.

He exceeded his role here with us due to injuries and definitely had a big role in our surprisingly good record in the Bubble.

You can expect some streaky shooting for sure but he competes hard defensively, chase down blocks will be a thing, smart passer, clutch shot making but some and if not, alot of bone headed turnovers. He legit did cost us Game 3 vs Toronto this summer on an inbound play to potentially win the game but he’s not likely to do that within a 20 minute limited role.

Also, I’m super jealous on the Patrick Williams pick and the simple fact the Bulls didn’t need to give up WCJ says alot. A team with a good front office going forward in a large market can go far in short time.

BTW, The Nets in 2016 were down to two candidates for the GM role: Sean Marks and Arturas Karnisovas.

Seems harmless to me. We have a full roster. With the crazy deals going around today, better to sit out and wait until things calm down.

I've actually been very supportive of AK's moves but this one is stupid. For a very calculated exec, this is completely crazy. In a couple of days, you'll be able to sign someone like Temple for the min or at worse bi annual exception. No reason to blow more than half your MLE on this guy. What other GM was rushing to sign a 34 year old Garret Temple as FA opened?

I don't understand why your so up in arms about the dollar amount. It's pretty clear that AKME is sticking to their plan of not adding any new deals that go beyond this season. I dont care if they were giving Temple. $1 million, $5 million, or $17 million. The part that matters is it's a 1 year deal.

Always liked Temple as a backup wing. A one year rental, so you can't really complain. I would like to see a vet PG move too.

IIRC, I saw a graphic the other day that the Bulls were in a 4 way tie essentially for the youngest team. Or tied for 4th youngest. Something. If Dotson sticks on the team along with Williams, we got even younger.

So we have about 4.2 mil of the mle left correct? With a full 15 roster with Temple. Do you guys see more cuts or trades?

I still think we need a solid backup PG. It will be interesting to see how we balance out the bench. I would trade hutch for monte morris. Trade Thad and Sato for another big?

It seems difficult to trade both Thad/Sato with other teams having limited cap room and the Bulls not wanting to take on longer contracts beyond 2021.

Is Sato really on the block? I think that makes sense. I mean the starting PG spot is Coby's to lose. I don't know what Temple is capable of, but seems like an average player who is average defensively, can hit the 3, can play stopgap PG rule. Between Dunn, Shaq, Sato, all of them are either below average offensively or defensively. I think AK have hinted in his interviews that 2-way players are very important in today's game, and that seems to be the direction we're heading.

This team needed vets in a big way. The oldest players after Thad were Sato, Otto and Felicio. Not exactly a bunch to look up to. Sato is a foreigner, Felicio is a joke, and Otto was resting in bed.

I don’t see the problem with this signing whatsoever (1y). Did the critics notice we are set up for 21 max space?

If anything Temple will be a good locker room presence , play solid defense and hit the occasionally 3; prob also moveable contract if a trade arises. Also he’s respected so the new bulls of treating well he can spread word

Not getting excited over this but I'm cool with it. Gives us a vet who probably doesn't care that much about his playing time, adds some wing depth, can shoot it and will be a positive locker room presence. If AK decides to tear down the roster at the deadline, he's a 5 mil trade chip to match salaries.

It's fine. There's no way Temple is better on the court than Dunn, but human personalities are a thing, and there are reasons to believe Dunn didn't want to be here anymore and may have been a chemistry drag while Temple will be a chemistry boost. The one year part of the deal makes it sort of irrelevant, just a filler player in a filler year that's good in the locker room and can do a bit of everything on the court.
