Someone needs to tell Adam that he is a peer to Stacey; he comes across as a guy that grew up idolizing the Bulls so he is sitting next to one of his heros.

dougthonus wrote:Also, I'm just going to say this. I love Adam Amin. What an amazing upgrade to Funk. There are times where I agree that he gets a bit too off tangent goofing with King, but his positive energy is such a blessing compared to Funk especially in this season.
I also love Adam Amin, I love when there's some highlight play and he gets hyped up, pumps me up also.
I'm not a fan of Stacy though, there's a few things he does that are alright, "Siracha" for example but I find him somewhat annoying other times.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.

Comcast must do behind-the-scenes testing. It's hard for me to imagine that they don't already know that a big portion of the fanbase doesn't love King. They probably knew it for years about Funk too.

I actually miss John Paxson in the booth.

Adam has that Gus Johnson excitement, though not as much during his NFL play-by-plays.

Re: Dear Stacey King . . .
For me, Stacey was the perfect homer announcer during the Rose era. Everything felt natural...even if some of it wasn't. These days, everything feels forced. For example...the whole Chi Slamma Jamma thing. While I personally love the reference (shoutout to the Houston Cougars), he rushes to cram it in after some dunks and it feels both forced and inappropriate. Saying it after a Zach breakaway or when Green dunks over someone in the paint? Perfect. Other times? Not so much.

Amin would be a lot better with a different partner. He does really good work with his other telecasts. The tandem with King is brutal, I always go to the visiting broadcast when watching games.

I totally agree with this. Didn't Amin say that during his childhood he had a Bulls poster with Stacey on it? The pairing isn't perfect, but it could be worse. We've had worse.

What’s the appeal of Amin? He sounds like a dozen other play-by-play guys around the country to me.

Re: Dear Stacey King . . .
Stacey's routine grates on me now too. In the Rose era it seemed more spontaneous and less repetitive. And as homer-tastic as they might have been, who can forget his outbursts when Rose performed some jaw-dropping feat like dunking on Dragic's head in Phoenix?
But now he just trots out tired catchphrases and is trying out new ones all the time too. I mean, do you *have* to say Sriracha nearly every time we hit a three? And if not that, it's "gimme the hot sauce", which was fine as a mostly-Korver-specific thing back in the day, but now it's just irritating.
Agree with the view that Amin has a good voice and cadence for play-by-play and has a serviceable knowledge of the game, but he's got to figure out how to interact with Stacey differently. Reflexively agreeing with everything and laughing at every single one of Stacey's jokes just isn't working. I don't want Funk back, but his rapport with Stacey, odd and awkward as it was, was often endearing. I'd like Amin to become more of a straight man like that and not just a sycophant.

Good cadence, pacing, level of excitement at appropriate moments. He's just a professional at adding excitement and making me feel more into the game.
I think he'd pair better with an intelligent analyst rather than Stacey, as both are guys are more 'hype' guys, but I like a hype guy in Amin's role a lot more than in King's role and think King's role is where you need someone that adds insight into the game.
Comparatively, Funk felt like he was negative a lot of the time, negative on our players and the opposing players, it was really awkward when he'd rip opposing players whom were blowing the Bulls out, discussing how everything was a terrible a shot, hoisting up another one whatever, he just gave the game a depressing vibe that wasn't fun.
Amin is fun and exciting and that attitude carries over for me and makes me enjoy the game more.

I knew Stacey checks in here! It’s just constructive criticism bro. I’m one of your fans.
P.S. Dad jokes are actually pretty funny.
Dad joke are funny, but usually not to the cool kids. Also Duck, I've been on this forum since my vet Bill Cartwright was the coach. Obviously I'm kidding about the my vet part. I'm not Stacey. I actually complain about him sometimes. And yes I think my complaints are usually petty too.

Forget the booth with a name like that you know he can knock down a jump shot or two... If he can play any D at all he could possibly be our solution at the 4...
Can you imagine if we had a Vucevic and Vukovich frontcourt? Stacey would have a field day.

He does to me, although he would be among the higher end. Yet he is kind of stiff. I don’t want to be offensive, but I honestly think his appeal, along with Benetti’s has to do with ethnicity and inclusion at least on some level. They are good at it, not that they are exceptional. The networks definitely should cover those bases, don’t get me wrong.

Amin is OK but I've put him on season probation for the "Mah-bley" thing

I remain wholly unimpressed by Matas and would be very upset not only if we trade up fo him, but if we even draft him at 11

And this thread would have a chance at reaching 100 pages...
Duck I hope you are aware that this post of yours has essentially made Stacey King the new Lauri Markannen!
