I'm really surprised that Queen is getting as much love as he is. Don't get me wrong, he is clearly a fairly skilled player for his age and knows how to play basketball. However, I just can't draft a player who doesn't take his conditioning seriously as a professional athlete. I don't even care that he is young. I'd much rather a slight of build player and hope that he can add muscle, than a player who is overweight that needs to lose weight and maintain that weight.

Then you add millions of dollars in his bank account, you think he is suddenly going to eat less? There are definitely cases where bigger players came into the league and lost weight, but inevitably, they would eventually gain it back. Look at Luka, he was pretty big, came into the league trim, and gained it back. Zion was always big and solid, but just gained over the years. Then there is Curry who lost weight in time for his contract, and gradually gained it again.

You might have been okay to be a little chunky back in the day when the game was slower, but he isn't going to survive in this league as an overweight player, not to mention the added injury risk player as an overweight player is not optimal. And frankly, he isn't like even like a fat Tim Duncan, where his skill heavily outweighs any weight concerns, yeah, he is skilled, but he isn't some can't miss skilled player either.

Hard pass.

More and more I lean towards guys with demonstrable basketball skills and instincts. No more Pat/Dalen "toolsy" types that you're hoping "flip a switch" or "develop a shot." That might work for teams like San Antonio that know how develop, not the Bulls. If they have the skill/instinct and ideally size, even if less athletic, I'll take 'em and see if I can get the next Halliburton versus the next Pat.

With that in mind.....
LOVE: KJ, CMB, Knueppel. Yes, an overload of wings, but that can work in today's NBA, plus the Bulls need to go for BPA not position.
LIVE WITH: Queen, Maluach, Sorber. Queen is probably the big with the best combo of size and skill, seems like Maluach/Sorber have some albiet with less experience so more projection.
Hate: Wolf, Coward, Richardson. Short, slow.

I'm not team Queen, but you're describing him as if he's Oliver Miller. He's 248lbs. He weighs less than Vuc. There's nothing we've seen that indicates he's going to eat his way out of the league, he just hasn't shown a committment to conditining.

I forgot all about Ollie Miller.

And what about Kevin Duckworth? He made the all-star team a couple of times!

I don’t want anyone that can’t play defense.

You want a team full of Patrik Williams and Jalen Terry's?

Am searching, searching, searching for when the Spurs ever drafted a lesser-skills tools guy and had him turn into a ballplayer. Nope ... it never happened.

No doubt an NBA team here and there has had such success, but those occasional breakthroughs surely owe more to flukes/the player's own motivations than anything that a franchise can do.

Correct. I think we can get away with one key player that isn’t very good on defense. And we already have that guy in Giddey. Of course actually finding a core piece at #12 is gonna take a lot of luck, but we seemed to do that with Buzelis last draft.

They can play defense, they can’t play anything else. Hence suck. And your requirement was just defense.

Wasn't my requirement. Also no Terry and Williams are not good defenders.
