This is random but I noticed your favorite teams are all teams that were the best in the league between 96-98ish. Guessing that is when your sportsdom came of age

I'm going over this in my mind over and over. I can't find a concrete reason why all of a sudden LA would come on as favorites now after Melo meeting with Phil other than his camp leaking it out to use as leverage in a S&T. My hype levels are at an all time high. Somebody hold me.

Yeah we have seen this before. Random strangers pop in with "sources" stating the know somehting.

Not buying it. Ill take our known posters with sources and the usual solid media guys like Woj and thats it.

Which is why the latest news is so promising. If Woj is reporting the LA stuff it means NY is hardly a lock.

Anyway, word is, in the office, Melo's attorney's are heading into Chicago tomorrow. That is all I got.

So I didn't want to be just another Rando with a Source, but my Father and I have relationships with two Sr. Partners at Seyfarth Shaw LLP HQ'd in Chicago: One of the partners called me earlier this afternoon (b/c he knows how closely I'm following the Melo situation) and the other partner confirmed via text that Carmelo's Attorneys will definitely be in Chicago by tomorrow mid-morning.

NOTE: I've been a heavy-lurker throughout this Melo process, and wanted to take a moment to thank you all for helping me through this roller coaster of a week. My process has been: 1) Read latest breaking story from (insert that hack ESPN/Yahoo "Insider") 2) Dial into 4-way conference-call with my Bro's to discuss the legitimacy/effect of said latest news 3) Come here to read through latest 8-10 pages of latest Melo Thread 4) Re-calibrate my thoughts on whether we land Melo.

Right now, I am very confident Melo will be a Bull.

Do law partners really give out confidential information like this? I just chatted with a lawyer friend about this post, and he was very dubious, FWIW.

My wife is a special council attorney for a big firm here (one step below partner) and I can assure you partners talk like that all the time. Never trust a lawyer with confidential info!
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Bluewaterheaven isn't a rando and he definitely hasn't claimed to have inside info before.

It might not be 100% true (t is the internet after all), but I trust that he's not making it up.

I have been talking about Melo using the Lakers for leverage since day 1, and this story confirms it precisely.

The only way Woj could ever report that LA was in the running is if Melo's camp leaks it. Melo's camp isn't full of people with loose lips. It's people leaking what they want to be known. They want it known that Melo is willing to walk for nothing if NY doesn't play ball, and give Melo the S&T he desires to Chicago. That's what's going on. According to Ralph's rumors, and a conglomeration of others, the biggest obstacle is going to be getting the Knicks to swallow the sunk cost of Boozer's corpse with Amare's already on the roster. A 3rd team is probably the solution, but it's a bitter pill to swallow for anybody, and we'll probably pay a pretty price for this. If this goes through we're probably going to absolutely gut our assets, and probably lose at LEAST one if not both of Butler/Gibson.

On the other hand Ralph reported earlier that we can move Taj and other pieces to clear enough to offer 22 mil to Melo. So not sure we need LA as leverage here.

A sign and trade, instead of signing Melo outright, is the only way to keep the MLE. It allows the Bulls to sign Mirotic and either keep Taj or use Taj to get Gasol.

If they sign Melo outright for 22 million, Taj is gone and there likely is no way to sign Mirotic.

It also involved acquiring Gasol.

Forget the lawyer crap. It's irrelevant. The Lakers news is what people are missing.

BullsLas said boozer to the jazz is a done deal and he said there would be a trade yesterday (which there was and he was right).
