Re: Bulls Trade Rumors Only
No, I didn't say that. In fact, I have been calling Coby Zach lite.MikeDC wrote:Stratmaster wrote:Sure. Why not. But he isn't the most easily replaceable player. Ayo and Craig you say? ROFLMikeDC wrote:
It's not even an argument. It's just word salad. What does it actually mean to say a guy is "as impactful and important as a non-star player can possibly be".
Well, it means the guy is a non-star.
That's the bottom line.
And teams are dying to give at least two first round picks (which implies someone will give more) for a non-star.
This isn't rocket science guys. If someone offers two 1sts (or more!) for a guy who you accept isn't a star on your dead-end team, you **** do it!
Well, he literally is. We have other guys that can (and do) capably fill the role he fills.
We don't have guys that can capably fill other roles.
This is mostly about you being bad at talent evaluation.
A few months ago, you specifically would have said (and I'm pretty sure you did say) the Bulls would have fallen off a cliff if Zach LaVine disappeared and you had to replace his production with Coby.
Well, LaVine effectively disappeared and we replaced his production with Coby stepping up. I would still say that LaVine is (if healthy) a better player, but the actual on-court impact in terms of wins is pretty negligible. We were a mediocre team with Zach, and we're a similarly mediocre team with Coby.
This is just the common sense understanding of what replaceable means. If we replace A with B, what happens? If the answer is nothing much, then A is replaceable with B.
If we were to trade Caruso, the resulting change would be basically similar to when we "replaced" Zach with Coby. Maybe worse, but much less worse than you would have predicted.
Because Ayo and Pat have the capacity to step up and fill that role. Just like Coby did.
You know who could have easily been replaced, and I have been saying it for a year? Demar. You know who has proven that? Coby. Of course, that assumed a healthy Lavine. The Bulls had plenty of ball dominant scorers. Replacing Zach with Coby doesn't move the needle a bit. They are the same guys. Having both of them, with a real PF would have moved the needle.
Ayo and Pat replacing Caruso's impact is the silliest thing I have seen in a while on here, and that's saying a lot.

Why? Philly is in free fall mode without Embiid. Heck, we actually have a chance to leapfrog them in the standings. Might as well keep him and see if the twin towers does something. And if not, you have a great backup 5.
Leapfrog them where? To the play-in game?
Either homecourt advantage in the play-in or there's a shot at the sixth seed.

Julian Phillips and Dalen Terry can replace the production of the late firsts we didn't get for trading Caruso.

The Bulls most certainly could've gotten some good 2nds for Derozan.
Good thing we won't do anything that silly. Extremely high chance they wouldn't be worth anything, especially because they probably wouldn't get a chance to play.
Just say no to meh draft picks!
A pick in the 30s isn't that different value wise from a late FRP. You aren't getting a FRP for an expiring Derozan.

I don't think people realize that for the last 2 months, the Bulls have been a top 10 NBA team.greenwing wrote:Dominator83 wrote:greenwing wrote:

Do I think they are a conference title contender? No. But could they give a team hell in a first round playoff series? Sure.

Is it possible AKME/Rein$dorfs are as disinterested in this franchise as it's fan base and simply forgot that today was the deadline?

Caruso is not easily replaceable at all imo.But the list of NBA players where you'd say "I want them on the floor with 5 minutes left in a Game 7" is extremely short, and he's on it. Not really convinced we have a single other player on that list tbh.
That would be a meaningful definition of replaceable if there were any prospect whatsoever of us being in a Game 7.
But there's not.
If I'm going to be in a race, I can't replace my Ferrari with a Kia.
But I'm not going to be in a race. I'm just schlepping to work. So I'm a lot better off replacing my Ferrari with a Kia and using the money elsewhere.
Like I said yesterday, a big part of making good decisions is understanding your situation and acting appropriately.
For the Bulls situation, the list of guys that can replace Caruso is pretty large even though the list of guys you might want in game 7 of a finals is short and has Caruso on it.

Well 31 pages for nothing. Not really surprised though. We’ve seen nothing happened the last 3 years.
