What is the purpose of this salary cap and tax bill if teams don't give a **** about it?

Teams that can not afford to do this get some of the taxes. It's suppose to give an edge to the big markets while helping the small markets to e profitable.

OKC won't be turning a profit this season.

I'd be willing to offer Parker a one year contract at an absurdly high dollar value. If we can stay healthy he is a star. If he can't he is off the books next year. I personally don't think the Bucks would match a $20+ mil one year deal.

He's restricted so it has to be at least 2 year deal

The Chicago Bulls are open to sign-and-trade offers involving David Nwaba

Post#624 » by rtblues » Wed Jul 4, 2018 12:04 pm

OK, so now what?
The Chicago Bulls are open to sign-and-trade offers involving restricted free agent David Nwaba, league sources told The Athletic. Nwaba and the Bulls are currently at a stalemate in negotiations. He's received interest from several teams.

Let's see 2 guys with ACL history and reputations as sub-par defenders, hmm, what could go wrong?
Yeah, and play them at the same time too, let's see what happens with that.

Can the bulls try and sign both Lavine and Parker? 12-13 million for each?

Even with those two on the books, The Bulls would have Rolo, Asik, Holiday coming off in 2019, which is around 30 million.

I think because of Lavine's cap hold you can offer Jabari whatever and still re-sign Lavine at whatever price, as long as you leave Lavine's deal to be the last one to be officially signed.

So in theory you could sign both to 17+mil.

Sounds like a great way to stay on the treadmill! I'd rather save our $$ and be ready to pounce on the Jimmy-Kyrie combo next year. Even if we strike out gotta take the swing. No need to invest 30+ million on 2 players with questionable impact and a combined 3 torn ACLs

Kyrie staying in Boston and if anything butler will get traded to Boston. The chances of them coning to chi knowing butler feels salty about gar and doesn't respect hoibergs style. Just resign lavine. Let the young man do his thing. Just add one more sneaky good or max player next summer. The team would've made the playoffs if dunn, lavine, played more games.

Moving felecio out the rotation and having carter is already a major move right there. Nwaba looks to be gone. More mins for hutchison. Holiday looks like trade bait. As well as grant. I see Lopez staying once they realize there playoff material. Plus a bench of portis carter Valentine Payne hutchison is nice

So uhhhh what are we doing?

I’m glad to hear no news on th re-sign front but to hear no news at all is troubling.

We’ve got Eastern Conference contenders leveraging their cap space to earn 2nd rounders, yet all is quiet in Chicago. What are we doing with our space?

Why are you comparing what contenders doing to us? Not everyone is in Philly position and Chandler is a decent player still and can help them win. That’s why I see this deal was made also could be a Leonard piece if they choose to pull the trigger.

Because we’re the ones who should be taking on expiring deals for picks.

I thought y’all wanted deals with a young prospect or 1st , I’m not wasting that for 2nd rounders that are 3 and 4 years from now. Unless you believed the Bulls were then going to flip Chandler in another deal to another team with cap issues then idk . It’s not that big of a deal to me nevertheless seeing the compensation

2nd rounders are valuable. Get them whenever you can.

It’s blatantly obvious we won’t be getting a 1st unless we eat an awful contract.

But it’s a known fact the bulls don’t care for them and missed wildly on those picks so again I think we just beating this 2nd rounder topic to death.

No. And the Bulls would never offer that without a guaranteed extension.

Yes. And they definitely could without a contract extension.

They could, but they would be fools. So they would not do it.

God no.

Please yes!
Sorry, but no. Most of us know better and have no desire to get on the treadmill to mediocrity and first round playoff exits. Thankfully, neither does our FO.

I too, am pleased that the Bulls have sat on their hands up to this point . The hope of renting out cap space for the year while getting a 1st rounder seems to be diminishing , however . I think the 2 most possible courses of action to make the summer a success are trading Felicio for Melo , maybe attaching Holiday to get a 2nd .Or trading Portis , thereby saving ourselves from the long term negative repercussions of paying him , with Felicio for an expiring and whatever draft capital can be acquired .
I have no reason to doubt the " insiders " on this forum that feel Garpax are inclined to keep Lavine , but given the leverage the Bulls are likely to have as the possibility of a big offer sheet is looking less and less likely that they will be able to keep him without destroying flexibility next summer .
They haven't steered the ship into an iceberg yet , here's hoping they keep it up .

So are GarPax doing ANYTHING? Like I get they're waiting on offers for LaVine but we kinda need another wing no matter what, right? Have we made an offer to Vonleh? Can we pay a second to dump Felicio and get WCJ 5 more minutes a week?

Bulls, Hawks, Kings, and likely soon Nets are pretty much at a stand still right now. They're about the only teams holding considerable cash, but, they're waiting to starve the remaining free agents and teams. When the players finally break and are desperate enough to lower their asking price to terms the Kings, Bulls, Nets and Hawks want, then they'll start making deals.

Not caring or missing wildly are not good enough reasons. Both are good enough to be considered incompetent, so there's that.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.

KC said for months the Bulls wouldn't do anything major aside from re-signing their own players. It's played out that way.

Similar pattern...reminds me of Ben Gordon, Bulls were unwilling to match and let him go. Nawaba, I am not really sure how he fits into the rotation, not sure worth over paying. Lavine, I like but unsure of his value. I feel the Bulls will tender 1 year offers to both and they will walk. The sames lines will be used about maintaining financial flexibility. They will put together a competitive team but it will not lead to a championship. Same old same old...no free agents are coming to this...I wish the Bulls would just stick to getting picks and young injury free talent.
