At least this will hit us first, and hopefully we'll be out of it first.

See you guys in a few months.

:o is that picture a joke or what, considering what we know about the virus so far  .

Terrible management of customs process by Ohare. You never want to get that close and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them infected them all show in pics. But o well I waited minimum 3hrs whenever I went there it was a terrible experience.

Yep it was your post and Homosapian's I was thinking of them when I was having the conversation with him and I think that's what got me to write it out was that it seemed like there were others going through the same thing. It seems like a pride in everything they've been through will help them get through this but it's like everything you've been through makes this particular thing tougher so maybe just sit this one out. I did give him a reality check though I thought that was pretty important and it was kind of painful at parts but I basically told him what was going on in Italy and what their calculation was to determine if they give someone care. And when he said he didn't get pneumonia as a kid I told him the percentages were the complete opposite now he's on the other end of the spectrum of the age range. It was hard but I agree they need a reality check so they can make up their own mind. I also didn't push too hard in what he should do about it but I did kind of lay out what was happening in as straightforward way as possible and asked him to look up what was going on in Italy for himself.

I agree it's a very bad time for him to be out there and we just had everyone make a run on the stores in big crowds so I'm worried that our healthcare system is going to start getting taxed in the next week when all the people lining up to get TP at costco start showing symptoms. That would be a really bad time to be an elderly patient is in that main crush of people and he's been out the same times. I posted this earlier but it was probably a while ago but I'm really trying to get them to do oil pulling if they get sick (https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/features/oil-pulling) I did this when I had a flu with coconut oil and it seemed like it kept my mouth nose and throat pretty healthy and limited congestion (which seems like the bad part of this if it gets to your lungs) and then a friend told me about Manuka Honey which you eat with oatmeal and has antibacterial effects. Also nobody seemed to buy the Sudifed congestion/mucus and flu medication so I ordered one of each and I'm just hoping if he does get sick it's kind of about just trying to help him not go serious in the first place so maybe if you can help fight the mucus and congestion it would never get to the lungs type thing. Who knows but I'm trying to do both convince him to stop going out and then just in case get some stuff that may be able to help him if he does get sick.

Interesting idea and it could work. How does the saying go "what doesn't harm you, can't kill you" or something. Also that vitamin C suggestion that someone posted here could be useful. Oranges or frozen berries give that I believe. I mean don't know if it works but it can't hurt and people just need to have their immunity system as strong as they can if they are going that route where they are basically willing to get infected and run the dice. So take all the vitamins, omega 3 etc.

It is also important not to get an additional small illness like flu to make the immune system weak just before getting corona so must avoid small diseases any way possible and then not going out to public after a small disease. Those are a few good basic things to follow I'd say.

I had to take drastic measures and try to scare my stubborn mother a little bit by telling her that if she gets infected and has to go to a hospital there will be some really ill people making noises through the night in those hospital rooms and she won't be sleeping much. Actually it's a really bad thing to battle serious diseases while not being able to sleep at all. Reduces the chances of survival for sure. I also reminded her that in Finland they have said that they won't be allowing much visitation to the hospital so that would kinda suck.

Maybe the non stop Corona programs in the TV will eventually brainwash her and make her use her summer vacation earlier and after some weeks it might be that even some work places will tell their employees to not come to work once the situation everywhere gets that bad and I do believe that it will get there.

Spanish resident here:

The community of Madrid is really trying. They have put all of the public & private hospitals under one umbrella. That means about 1000-1100 ICU beds just for COVID-19 severe cases.
Plus as the lockdown goes into it's 3rd/4th days we will cut down on the boneheadedness. I cannot stress enough how our medical professionals are all working together & tirelessly to get this under control.

Glad to hear. I've been worried about Spain as it has looked like it was quickly becoming the new Italy in Europe. Keep us updated.

Meanwhile... Rudy Gobert should've donated a lot more than that after the touching of mikes brain fart that he did and probably infecting Donovan Mitchell as well. Half of his 2019-2020 season salary to Mitchell and rest to the relief TBH.

just take small trip to ”Marskin maja”. And we did drive a bit just for fun. I can tell there is A lOT of people using they summer houses. Cottages are really in use. It is almost like summer time. That is good news. Mostly was older people but did see a lot of younger generation also. People were hiking, biking etc. Here is around 5cm snow and lakes have enough ice that i see people walking middle of lakes. I would not do that after this winter. Night it is like -8 but daytime +4 and sun is shining. It`s windy so it does not feel warm at all. But odd thing is your go 5km more south there is no snow at all. This is called ”Lopen ylanko area”. It is a bit higher ground and winter is like 3 weeks longer than rest of the southern Finland. We still avoid any closer contact. This is what i was planned if something goes really wrong. Seriosly i did not expect this. I miss even Bulls games.

There is lot of Finnish living winter in Malaga area. Fuengirola-Marbella. I follow my friends and they share a lot of stuff in Facebook. Actually i visit usually there every year. Sometimes even twice. Spain might (hopefully not) be next Italy. Atleast that is how i see it in Finland. Our goverment still keep most of schools open. But cities are now start closing schools. Our goverment will be big trouble if the risk they take don`t work.

In the last 5 years I have had Finnish neighbors twice. They all corrected me when I asked how similar Finnish is to Danish/Swedish/Norwegian. They said no, totally different.

I've read an article and you probably know the truth better than anyone here, so you can tell me if it was BS. A Romanian living in Spain was saying that Spaniards ignore precautions, and restaurants, parks and terraces are pretty much full. I think she was in Barcelona.

Yeah that is true to a large degree. Before yesterday's decree a lot of people exited the large cities for the coast. Now with the lockdown in place the police are enforcing it with rigor. We hope the spike starts to flatten in the next 5-7 days. I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit 30-40K infections before it starts to call down.

Just a heads up for those with kids, but Disney+ pushed forward the Frozen 2 release by 3 months to releasing it today. If your kiddos are looking for something to watch they can get in some Anna and Elsa now.

This is the best part of all of this madness. Seeing the true colors of friends, family and corporations.

How many other people that infected others when they didn't know they had it do you expect to give up half their salary? My guess is zero other people. Come on now, let's not bash people for giving money to charity.

So your citizens are doing exactly the same that Italians did  .
They were, not anymore I hope. All restaurants, clubs, and beach locales closed. A ton of beaches closed.

Its been reported that Germany and USA are in a ”coronavirus vaccine war” against each other. Trump’s government tried to buy a German-based medical company CureVac, that is developing a vaccine for Covid-19. Germans stepped in and made a sudden change of CEO and rumours are its cause of Trump’s governments interest.

I bet there are lot of tourists also. Some of my (stupids) friends take flights to Bali, Thailand etc. Etc. Even that they did know the risks. One of them was last ones who came Italy with Finnair. Now he is in Bali :noway: He also get more than 100 thumbs in FB when he take a flight. Well he is business owner and not coming back soon so...
