AKME has been reputed to have little interest in picks. Several mentions of this over the past month or two.

Red8911 posted a comment by Chris Haynes that makes me wonder what deals are current on the table for Lavine. Are they bad? Decent? Good?

It makes me think AK is holding out for a great offer and one that might not ever show up.

I agree with you about Bridges. It's crazy how many picks the Nets go for him.

Zach is being paid almost double, then add the injury and trade request. Not to mention what we were asking for and what he could get is somewhat opposite. We were wanting pieces to still compete before. Now may well be potentially looking for a salary dump to avoid the tax if we're lucky.

This is the right read on our situation. Few could understand certain dynamics and relations. Great post!

This deal drops BRK from potential Lavine trades (Simmons and a pick)

At this point, I say keep him and let him produce. Help his value, and trade him in Jan

This may just be the case. Zach's value was always dependent on someone striking out. Things may shake out post Paul George signing (wherever that may be), but I am not holding my breath. You have to be prepared for him to be here until the deadline.

Bridges is a top tier defender at a much lower price and with all the Nova guys clamoring to play together he may actually help them save some money in Hart/Brunson extensions.

IMO, the Bridges deal virtually guarantees that Lavine is a Bull next year. Chicago is going to try to rehabilitate his trade value and get something like that. They would look like fools if they traded him for a bag of donuts and he played anything close to Bridges.

What do you think of a trade to the Blazers? The salary math works for Ayton plus Grant for Zach and Vuc. I know the Blazers want to get rid of Ayton especially after drafting Clingan.

Is it our players that have such low value (Zach and Caruso), or is it the guys in the front office who are incapable of receiving value in return for them? Honestly, I think it's mostly the latter.

A more competent front office would have gotten Giddey and picks for Caruso and wouldn't be forced into a strict salary dump for Zach. I think other GMs know AKME can be strong-armed and look at them as an easy W in trades.

A lot of this has to do with timing; we continually pass on trading on our players at their peak value and instead wait to trade them when their value dwindles.

Well, that's just incompetence then. I love the Giddey addition, but I would love it a lot more if we got a couple of picks as well. It's not like OKC is strapped for picks.

Makes sense. Again Bulls are prioritizing trading Zach first then make decisions on the rest of the roster.

Chris Haynes: “The way that it was explained to me on what the Bulls ultimately decide to do with LaVine: It was said that the Bulls are trying to figure out if they desperately need to ‘win the trade’.”

The way that it was explained to me on what the Bulls ultimately decide to do with LaVine: It was said that the Bulls are trying to figure out if they desperately need to “win the trade”.
Phrasing it like that leads me to believe that there is a deal out there that can be had — that they believe that they can do — but it might not be received favorably, particularly by the Bulls fanbase.

Why don’t they have the desire to win any of their other trades? Is this a result of the negative reaction both nationally and locally to the Caruso trade?

I wonder if "winning the trade" means just taking back better contracts in a salary dump or actually needing to sweeten the deal with another asset like the POR pick?

I think if there was a deal for a 1st and expirings for Zach, they would have taken it.

I have always been on the keep Zach to rehabilitate his value train, and the trade for Giddey has only strengthened my view. I'm sure AK would prefer to keep Demar, but perhaps the AC/Giddey trade has him rethinking how this season might look with a Demar led team without AC here to bail out our defense.

The Kings who were rumored to have interest in Zach made a trade to open up more space.

Wonder if it’s related to Zach ? Could be or not. Kings have Fox, Monk, and just drafted Carter for the guard positions. Lost Mitchel and would trade away Huerter.

It’s possible or they just needed more flexibility to add from free agency.

Wonder if we explore a Lavine for Ayton swap.

Do you mean capspace? The Kings have no capspace. I think the Kings are out as a possible LaVine destination.

Maybe if it's a 3-team trade, the Blazers have zero need for Zach LaVine.

Yea,if AKME wants to make play for Ayton, it would be far more likely be something around Vuc and their pick expunged, which they may actually consider.

It would need a 3rd or maybe 4th team to include those two players and PORT would need to decide to play their recent picks and take their lumps for a while. PORT basically has 2 full lineups, one with very expensive veterans Ayton, Grant, Simons, Thybulle, Williams who aren't going to accept coming off the bench then they have Scoot, Murray Avdija, Sharpe and now Clingan. Their worst plan would be to give everybody 24 minutes and have them all be unhappy.

You can't imagine them giving up any of their young guys since the just added 2 more. They need to be even more active than the Bulls in moving veterans. What they likely want on retrun would be more picks and some role players.

It just seems very difficult to construct even the first trade that gets the Bulls Ayton. PORT would have to take Vuc to ease Clingan a year to ease into the NBA. I can see him committing a lot of fouls as a rookie and they get the rights to their pick back. That or the Bulls take Ayton, some other team takes Lavine and sends picks and the role players to PORT.

If The LAL as a fourth team decided they would like Jeremi Grant and Vuc then some of their usual outgoing trade pieces could go to PORT some to the Bulls and the 3rd team sending to PORT.

But rest assured, it would be complicated.

Thanks Quickey for making Zach’s contract look much cheaper.
