Still waiting for Carmelo decision. Teams involved in sweepstakes have not heard anything yet this morning.

I wonder when Melo/agents told teams they expected the decision to be made?

I would guess that he didn't give them a specific day, just that he would make his decision as quickly as possible after he meets with all teams.

Sas said he's hearing a decision is not coming today.
Derrick Rose will do 1 of 2 things in the 2014-2015 NBA Season: 1) Return to MVP form and prove you wrong, or 2) Fail to return to MVP form and prove me wrong. Either way, one of us will end up looking like an ***hole.

Be realistic. Bulls have to make a complicated S&T work with New York and the pieces they have they don't want to trade.

The Lakers just make too much sense. New York shouldn't pay him the max, they can miss the playoffs without him. I don't think Chicago wants to pay as much as they could, I think they got involved because they thought he might be willing to take less to play here. I don't think Chicago or New York wants to be looking at a 35 year old max salary Carmelo.

The Lakers tho? The whole Lala in LA thing is seemingly prefect for her, and her career makes him(them) money as well. The basketball side does too. LA needs a big time star and will do what they need to make it happen. They have more money than any franchise so spending is never gonna be an issue. They can get Melo now and figure out how to bring another star later. They can afford a 35 year old max salary Carmelo.

Right. That was always the case. Again- nothing has happened that should have changed your mind from day one. Any interest in Melo walking to a third team (i.e. LA) is leverage for the Bulls S&T with the Knicks. I'm not saying it will happen but NOTHING has happened to change the narrative of this story. If you thought the S&T Melo to Chicago was always a possibility then you should still think that. If you never bought it, then you shouldn't buy it now.

But if you're changing your mind now (I don't know your original position) then I think you had an unrealistic idea of this process.
Honesty is my only excuse.

I don't agree that it makes basketball sense for him to be in LA if he wants to make the playoffs eventually.

That's silly. We do have enough money. We just need to make a couple simple transactions to make the money available. The Cavs don't have enough money at present to offer Lebron a max deal but that doesn't seem to be stopping them.

What?

Did you mean to put a green font in there?

Bulls interested in FA this summer began when they let Luol go and Noah started talking to Melo. That was this winter.

Whether it's true or not, at least from our perspective, this really is the simplest explanation for a delayed announcement. Melo's made his decision to come to the Bulls and now waits for Phil and GarPax to work out a S & T.

Very little reason to delay, if he's staying in NY or signing in LA.

Every damn "real" basketball mind such as George Karl, Tom Penn, PJ Carlesimo and others unlike Stephen A Smith have told the Bulls are the best fit for Melo. If he is going anywhere else, it is not about basketball but other factors such as money, playing with friends, wife's career or some other issue.

Well hopefully Chris Bosh gets finished with petting elephants on his vacation soon, so the league can start moving again.

I'm sorry, but this is **** hilarious. You're the same guy who bitched the last 3 seasons anytime Paxson mentioned the word 'flexibility'. What did you want the Bulls to do - trade everyone like we did in 2010, and watch Melo go back to NY anyways?

By any credible account - the Bulls had the capability to create the cap space necessary to sign Melo outright (just as Houston would have done as well). But obviously didn't want to do that - both because of the risk Melo could go elsewhere, and because putting as strong a team as possible around Melo is the Bulls biggest selling point.
