Well AKME have clearly been given the green-light to "mortgage" the future to start getting playoff money for Reinsdorfs again. I'm being a bit facetious, but if GarPax made these moves, we'd be making fun of them for choosing relative mediocrity.

That being said, it's simply too hard to suck and suck and suck until you land a franchise-altering no. 1 pick. Zach LaVine is here. He's a popular guy around the league. He's an All-Star. We saw what Devin Booker did this year. The goal now is to surround Zach and make him thrive as much as possible. Compete, make the playoffs, hopefully 2nd round appearance, and show the league the Bulls are back to being competitive. Then, we can strike when the next disgruntled star wants out. These Lonzo and DeRozan deals are not super long-term and can be moved if necessary.

Embiid, KAT, Dame...take note that the Bulls are back to being relevant.
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

Contenders as in a championship team? Not even close.

We should hover around the 4-6 mark, and anything less would be a huge disappointment.

I think the front office's end game is to ultimately acquire a superstar in a trade, keeping an eye out for the likes of Lillard etc. Star players who are disgruntled or not overly pleased with their current situation.

I'll be rooting for this rendition of the Bulls team as is right now, but I think in 2 seasons, this team is going to look a lot different.

Ok maybe they don’t win a championship, one team does that but they will be one of the top teams in the league. You can call them contenders. This is a really good roster now.

Not yet, they still have to prove that on the court, they have better pieces now, but the team isn't complete yet

I believe Lauri will split time at 4 with Patrick.

I won't say contender. DeRozan not being our #1 guy is good but he is also not the best version of him. Hopefully he will provide the veteran leadership we need. At least we can't complain about things staying the same :)

If you think about it the Nets are the only clear favorites in the East. The next 3-4 teams imo are even and bulls are now part of that list.

I think people need to be reminded that DeRozan played the majority of his minutes at power forward with the Spurs. I think both Pat and DeRozan are going to switch at either forward position as starters. And if Lauri remains, he will play off the bench as a backup forward and center, along with some of the younger bigs we've recently signed. Adding one more big is probably going to be the next move, most likely a veteran.

Does anyone remember the last time we trade for a forward from San Antonio who wore jersey#10?

What future?

They are giving two mid to late first rounders, which can be bought every year by giving up expirings for longer term contracts.

which means that...you have to take on bad longer-term contracts. which harms your team

I'm not sure how good this team will be yet, but I think it's a pretty safe bet they'll at least be watchable, and that's something I haven't been able to say for years.

Derozan highlights kinda shocked me. He doesn’t shoot threes, but his explosiveness and and ability to finish at rim and draw fouls is elite. With his improved passing ability it reminds a lot of Jimmy Butler and his mid-range is shot is good. We need a couple good rotational bigs and we should be very good.

You think this team misses the playoffs? Who the Hell are 6 teams that are better now? Right now I only see Nets, Buck and 76ers(maybe) that are obviously better. We passed the Knicks and Celtics. We’ll see on the Hawks.

I was hoping for top 14 protection, but expected top 4 protection, so I'm fine with that if it's true.

I don't think anyone is counting on Williams to be anything more than a rotation player this year. Now next year and beyond I'll have some pretty big expectations - but I think you make this deal regardless of what you think of Williams. Its a 3 year deal that will come off of the books when you're ready to make a decision on Williams future in Chicago.

I'd not worry about Pat's future with the Bulls.I just hope he's watching these moves and working hard on his game to return much better than his rookie season looking for earning his minutes, it's up to him to be a starter or not.

Gotta be trolling. We brought in a stud on Derozan that knows how to win.
