Nugs are the lone possibility I could see. Jokic and Vuc are close friends. I’d love to find a way to make a Vuc for Daron Holmes deal work, but its hard to envision money wise.

Yep. Same for IQ at 30+

IQ feels like it was in a previous universe somehow. I feel like the Brandon Ingram extension was the last of a dying breed of extensions by a team that didn't sense the way the wind was blowing, and now we are officially in the new era where people are getting on board with the fact that NBA contract economics have significantly shifted. I think I like Suggs better than Quickley on the whole, but 30 in this environment is a big number.

Happy 4th yall, first real Giddey negotiation update I’ve seen, from Cowley. He wants the 30M/yr Suggs deal, Bulls not budging yet.

The Bulls shouldn’t have to budge. Just because Suggs was overpaid doesn’t mean the Bulls have to match that. They have the leverage. If they hold out a little longer they will get Giddey at a lower price.

I don't think it's permanently gone backwards, the salary cap has only gone up last few years and everything is measured as % of the cap. In 2020 the cap was $109M. We now have a cap of $154M. So a $30M player in 2020 is the same as $43M today.

The tightening this summer is the stars aligning of most teams not having cap space and many of the expected big spenders hit by injuries and thus not willing to spend as they normally would.

Austin Reaves refused a $90M contract and is seeking $35M+. Quentin Grimes is seeking $25M+. Miles Bridges is $27M even with all his baggage and inability to help his team win more than 20ish games.

I thought he would have been a good buy-low player to take a swing on. Oh well.

I'd prefer him over Kuminga or Okoro.

These are the types of trades we should be making.

With Whitmore gone, Giddey at 24m and Grimes at 14m is my new won’t-happen fantasy.

Because the Bulls would rather sell off 2nd round picks.

Add Indy to the list of teams with a hole at C that no longer have a need for Vuc

Would make no sense to trade picks to get Whitmore this year. Y'all can write off Terry, Phillips, Williams, Okoro if you want, but they likely all get minutes this year. Cam Whitmore is a career sub 36% 3pt shooter, that 47% is misleading as hell. Career TS 56%, VORP .5, BPM .2, DPBM -.7

Matas, Noa and maybe Huerter and Ayo will all play forward minutes too. There's no room to add another player to evaluate. Clearly they didn't want a player back, we'd have had to pay and waive a player plus send picks to add Whitmore to barely play.

I'd rather take a chance on Whitmore than Okoro, but that ship sailed awhile ago.

Exactly. Whitmore's not a bad shot, but not for us right now. We have too many developmental forwards for maybe the first time in 10 years. This is not the year to give up picks to add another prospect with two years left on his rookie contract. We'll have plenty of open roster spots next summer.

Okoro looks to help defensively way more than Whitmore. Personally, with this team, I take the defensive player next to Coby and Giddey.
