Of course teams want him. Because is damn good. He will a household name soon and will make the all-star team. Notice they don’t want any of our other players. Donovan and AK are not dumb. And more importantly he doesn’t want out. He isn’t a diva like these other high profile players that just want to team up and win easy. He wants to win here.

1) How do you know that?
2) Why would teams try to trade for Lauri and give up assets? They can just sign him in the offseason by giving him a $20 million dollar deal. Surely Chicago won't match if Lauri is as horrible as everyone here keeps saying. The worst 19/6 player in the history of the league.

I would still rather have Jimmy but man I would love to see Zach + Jimmy pairing... They would bring the best out of each other.

zach doesn't have the stature to demand a trade to a championship caliber team. how many guys who have never been on a winning team have made such a demand?

we don't have any idea what he wants. it could well be that he doesn't like his situation but is smart enough to know that he doesn't have the standing to express his desire to leave. and so he says the right thing publicly

Well I personally think he wants to be here and be part of the Bulls winning again. That is what he said so I’ll take his word. I don’t think he has gotten to the age where players start acting like bitches and demanding to form super teams. If GarPax and Boylen were still in charge it would probably be a lot different. He clearly hated Boylen but likes Donovan.

Yeah sure. Half the GMs in the league are talking about him but he couldn't demand a trade if he wanted out.

Players who can demand a trade to a championship team are already on one. If Lavine wants out he demands a trade to a contender and makes it a championship team. But he won't unless something goes terribly wrong.

Zach is going to need to carry them. The depth scoring is laughably bad.

Zach is getting respect by guys in the league. You don't get rid of someone who might be a magnet for a second or third star in the next year or two.

I think it's time to end threads like this and starts one on who he needs to be paired with to complete for titles. Who is the next disgruntled star we can trade Coby, Williams and draft picks for.

I've seen enough. He deserves a near-max to max extension. We should sign him this offseason and use some of our cap room to get into the appropriate range. And we should looking to acquire players that compliment him (hint: one of those players in Lonzo Ball).

I think the Bulls need to decide what road they are going to go. If they do decide to make Lavine their main man for the foreseeable future, then they need to get pieces to surround him to his advantage. They have to consolidate the young talent into players that are ready to win now. Lavine probably won’t stick around if the Bulls are still a mediocre team. Getting another top 5 pick won’t matter, because that pick is never going to be the alpha on this Bulls team if Lavine is still here, which is fine because Lavine has shown he can be the man. Just needs to be consistent on both sides of the court. But if the Bulls are going to ride or die with Lavine, then surround him with better players who are at a similar stage in their careers and they are ready to win now.

This. Absolutely this. Guys are starting to notice that Lavine has become a star. Players will want to play with him. The Bulls need to build around Lavine. Find another star to pair him with and then the aging vets will come to make you a contender.

The Bulls certainly had a legit chance with Rose in his prime. They never truly paired him with a star but they built around him with great tier two type guys and a deep bench.

The Bulls had an opportunity to build around Butler but they tore it down due to fear of his age resulting in an overpay with a bloated max deal. Butler probably could have been paired with another star to get into legit contention but he was never given that chance in Chicago. And no, declining Wade does not count even though that’s an example of a star playing wanting to come play with another star.

The Bulls need to build around Lavine now that he’s getting noticed and consistently night in and night out produce at a high level. Here’s the opportunity to build around a star. I really hope that AK figures it out because we it’s hard in the NBA to get one star. And players these days like to team up with their buddies or someone they think will help them compete for a ring. Hopefully the front office recognizes that and sees Lavine as a core piece.

Return to Chicago Bulls
