Thibs makes guys play WAY above their heads in the regular season, but that generally fails in the playoffs. This Knicks team does not have any great offensive players.

It's not that it fails in the playoffs, they don't have that extra juice and gear in the playoffs, whereas most other teams do.

It's also that talent almost always wins out and so it's hard to expect some of the teams he's coached to do better than they ultimately did in the playoffs.

Randle's last 2.5 games is inexcusable. Nervous the first outting in the playoffs? Fine whatever. Follow that up with 2 more duds? Something's not adding up.

I love Derrick Rose, but if he is the one who has to carry the Knicks in the playoffs, this is going to be a short series.
Why so serious?

Some players just don't step up in the playoffs and some do, aka Derrick Rose.

I’m not saying this is his fault. He did a great job to get this Knicks team as far as he has. Just saying I have seen this movie before where a Thibs team full of overachievers get exposed in the playoffs.

I think not completely falling apart would acceptable. Haven’t seen a face plant like this in a while.

This Hawks team really is loaded. Lou Williams and Gallinari were part of that overachieving Clippers team a few years ago and now they're on the bench for the Hawks. Bogdanovic, Capella, Hunter, and Huerter can all play and Snell and Dunn round out the end of the bench. Then you got Young and Collins. They've done a great job.

Realistically if Randle has even a halfway decent game in game 1, they're in atlanta up 2-0. Not sure this is the same movie for Thibs.

He honestly never struck me as that bulky. I feel like him laying off the gummy bears probably was huge. Either way, Rose looks like he's in amazing shape now. This series is really making me miss him.

They obviously did, but that wasn't a fluke. A team doesn't just steamroll through 3 of the top 4 seeds like that because of a fluke. Don't really understand why people keep saying that.

But just like the '07 Heat and '14 Heat, they needed to make reinforcements and they didn't. They needed to do something just like the '95 Rockets did.

They really deserve much, much more scorn for not being willing to give up a pile of crap for Harden.

Nunn
Harden
Jimmy
Blake Griffin?
Bam

That would have gone right back to the Finals, IMO. I don't know what they were thinking. Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson? A bunch of late first round picks? Who gives a flying F? Were John Paxson and my husband running the team?
1 million percent correct.

Rose's upper body looked huge returning from both the ACL and the meniscus during the 2014 world games.

Except when they chose not play. I know, that's a low shot, but....

In Roses last playoff game in 2018 he had 12 points and 2 assists in a 18 point loss. For that series: 14.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Are you saying that as a negative? That was the season he looked like he was on the verge of falling out of the league after having a terrible season with the Cavs. He played 9 games with the Timberwolves that year and only 12 minutes a game. That playoff performance was the start of Rose's late-career rejuvenation.
