Yea, we lose the exceptions which is the only downside, but like you said it we are getting Melo, I don't care if we lose the exceptions.

I feel like standing on top of the RealGM Bulls forum and shouting this S&T scenario as loud as possible so people know it's a possibility and IMO the most likely S&T scenario.

Maybe a mod like yourself, could sticky this S&T scenario to the top.

People like to point out the Heatles took less to form up in Miami. But after state taxes, it was a negligible amount, a couple million dollars each.

A position of great leverage for Miami where there was no practical point for CLE and Toronto not to deal, to get something back, we are in entirely new territory than that here.

Just when I was hoping they would offer a trade including Taj for an elite player.. The Bulls go out and let him recruit. This can not get any worse. This off-season is looking more and more like we will not sign any relevant FA.

There are quite a few teams out there right now that need to take on a monumental amount of salary this year in order to hit the salary floor. The floor is going to be just under 57 mil this year. There are three teams (Orl, Utah, and Philly) that are currently rebuilding that will have a hard time reaching it. Why wouldn't they be willing to take Boozer for next year if it nets them the Sacramento pick. Then why wouldn't the knicks be willing to accept the non guaranteeds and our first rd pick in 2015 (Possibly Mirotic as well) for Melo in a S/T. At that point we would be able to offer Melo roughly 20 mil a year.

What Pax said on the radio last week was they are allowed to cash in on their assets and spend this summer. This is how they would do it.

Yep. Melo is either taking a very real discount - or the Bulls already have S&T worked with NY. Anything else and this all seems like a waste of time.

Rose / vet min (udrih, aaron brooks, billups maybe?)

this would be wonderful team. both offence and defence. lots of shooting, lots of athleticism. however, I have serious doubts about that S&T issue. why would knicks accept boozer + mdj + unguaranteeds + picks for melo?

Not only that, but how don't we know Gar personally asked for them because of the NY connection. Notice no mention of Pip who is probably closer to him than anyone on our team.

Worth recalling, the Lakers let Dwight walk away 'for nothing' and that was despite Houston even gave him a legit max relative to what they were able to do.

So this would be no small thing for Melo to take the plunge and be willing to come for what's available.

Nah, the All-Star thing was awesome. And it was a spur-of-the-moment reaction, like shyness. Not recruiting is a planned decision. It's nothing like the character trait of shyness or awkwardness. It's lack of common sense.

It's unfortunate that people mistake introversion as some kind of sign of disrespect.

Noah's always gonna be turnt up, and Rose is always gonna be subdued. That's just their personalities. It's kind of a weird comparison, but it reminds me of the "Bernie & Ernie" 30 For 30. When they played together at Tennessee, Ernie Grunfeld was the outgoing guy and big man on campus, even though Bernard King was the best player on the team. He was just a quiet dude who kept to himself, in large part due to the trauma he endured growing up.

What matters is Rose on the basketball court.

People don't seem to grasp that this move is essentially neutering our own bargaining position.

Taj being at the meeting is of negligible value if Noah is already going to be there anyway.

Unless this has all been cooked up months ago with Melo, I'm more concerned then I've ever been about the situation. Especially on top of Rose's clumsy words today.
