Hoiberg is nice but it would be nice if the FO acknowledged that work needs to be done on the roster

The Warriors were a 51 team last season and lost in the 1st round; sounds somewhat familiar?

Their roster only became stacked in hindsight when Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes were utilized better, Stephen Curry became the best point guard in the league, Klay Thompson became a definite all-star and their defense and offense both reached elite status.

Despite people dramatizing and exaggerating the flaws of this team, the Bulls are still a good team. They will likely make the playoffs again next season as a Top 3-4 seed. They just need a coach that can connect better and get them over the hump, as well as a few tweaks here and there to the roster. The majority of the improvement has to be internal though.

-Rose staying healthy and building on the things he did in the playoffs.
-Butler continuing what he did last season.
-Gasol hopefully not getting drained by father time.
-Noah bouncing back.
-Mirotic taking the next step
-McDermott and Snell becoming consistent contributors

Yeah, If I had to guess I'd say Gibson is the only one dealt. The next coach can't be scared to have Noah or Gasol come off the bench either. I think the two C lineup just doesn't work for this team. If the new coach uses Nikola, Snell and Butler and figures out how to properly used Noah and Gasol, I agree that we can see much different results. I'm just praying it's Hoiberg because after him the rest of the group is meh.

I'd actually look at using Taj to move up in the draft.

I think Hoiberg could do wonders for Dougie and Niko. Trade Taj for a combo/backup PG and then use our pick on a C and use MLE on Koufos or McGee

Was watching some of his videos. He definitely runs modern NBA sets. Lots of pick-and-roll and he's constantly teaching his players about proper spacing. He also commented about an aspect of coaching that deals with player turnover, saying that he doesn't have one particular system year in and year out that he implements because you'll have new players on the team, so you have to adjust. I guess it all sounds nice and looks good on video and paper. Only way to know for sure is to actually hire the guy, I guess.

Wouldn't it be in poor taste for Hoiberg to comment?
- We still have a HC under contract
- Hoiberg is still HC at a University

I expect everything to be solved behind closed doors and rather drawn out. This could become awkward

For more speculation on Hoiberg, go over to CycloneFanatic.
If he wasn't interested in changing jobs, all he'd have to do is tweet 'Looking forward to winning a Big 12 title at ISU next season!' If he wanted to end speculation. You can do that from a couch, and doesn't address any other job at all. I'm not saying he should do that, but to act like he can't is silly.

I watched a video of him explaining some of his coaching philosophy and I thought it interesting he said "... guys in the NBA" and not ..."guys in the NC Double A"

In regards to Kerr taking a stacked GsW team...

I feel like.. Thibs would be starting and playing Iguadala 40 mpg because of his defensive history and veteran experience.

Am I wrong or am I right?

I'm sorry but it was incredibly stupid not giving Snell, Moore, or McDermott better looks this year, over the likes of Kirk and Brooks, and playing Jimmy 40+ mpg. Granted these players aren't on Barnes' or Green's level, but it's just a matter of making the bed you'll sleep in. Thibs established some crappy rotations back in November, and for whatever reason ended with the same crap in May. We looked better in pre-season.

The simple premise that Hoiberg values athletic offense is enough to comfort me into knowing Kirk won't be running half-court sets with Noah in crucial parts of games.

Hoiberg is coming because this kind of talk cannot help recruiting. I can not imagine he would not have shot it down already.

Barnes also looked timid and had a 9.8 per 2204 min
Snell 10.4 in 1412 min.
We need a coach who will trust young players.

Draymont Green had a 12.7 per and a 49.7 TS last season.

More about Fred heart and it helps understand the procedure he had this year. He was going to need it sooner or later.

I actually think a lack of talk from fred side is the biggest reason to believe it will happen. Most coaches jump out and say they are not leaving even if they do. The lack of talk is speaking volumes.

uh no this is turning into Carmelo part 2

"he hasn't spoke on it so he must be coming" sounds like "he hasn't chose so they must be working on a S&T"

Fred is probably waiting to hear a pitch before he accepts or declines

he doesn't know what the Bulls might offer and doesn't want to commit either way quite yet

I don't follow college ball so I can't speak to Fred's coaching ability directly, but one gold star, in my view, is how much he got out of Royce White in college. When you see what White has done/hasn't done in the NBDL and NBA, it's impressive that Hoiberg was able to get so much out of him in the season he had him for. That's a small data point that suggests he's pretty good at motivating guys.

I thinking Thibs would definitely have gone worth iggy and David Lee on the starting lineup over green and barnes.

TBH I think he could even be in line to get the job if Hoiberg says no.

I think Griffin is certainly the FO's fallback plan. I can just imagine us discussing coaches from A to Z as Thibs replacement, and FO just go with Griffin. Not saying that Griffin is bad, I agree that he'll maintain the existing culture, but how much different is he compare to Thibs? He learned from Skiles and Thibs.... 2 of the most stubborn coaches you can find that coach 'grind-it-out' style of basketball... man... I'm tired of that, we got some nice talents who are capable of more modern style.

From reading all these threads about who should be coaching the Bulls next season, it's becoming clear that we all are in agreement that Thibs has to go. It's a sad thing since just a couple months ago I think the majority on the people here wanted to see him back.

I suppose the media did their part in stirring up stories and rumors, but getting bounced in the second round by a hobbled Cavs team would certainly seal your fate.
