MBPKOGZ wrote:So the Bulls sit on their hands and ultimately select a player that is projected not to have the lateral quickness to guard off switches, which ultimately makes him at best a defensive liability in crunch time and at worst a non starting role player, sound familiar (Portis, Valentine, McDermott). The Bulls really have a problem with selecting 2 ways players, it's pathetic that we lost Jimmy Butler and tanked a whole year for Wendell Carter Jr... I mean my God. At least select Bridges, he has the same floor and a much higher ceiling.

I'd rather sit on my hands and take WCJ vs overpaying to move up.

Sheesh. WCJ is a safe pick, but let's not act like he's some 4 year senior with athleticism questions. He had comparable measurables to Bamba in terms of quickness. He played in the shadow of Bagley all season.

He's as much of a development project as JJJ. This is why I don't **** with this board so much anymore. GarPax could have tried to swing for a HR with MPJ, but maybe they truly believe Lauri is the cornerstone and are comfortable with a player with a high floor?

I must admit, my heart dropped when Bamba got selected by the Magic.

But it seems everytime we underrate our pick they end up being amazing.

Welcome to Chicago Wendell Carter Jr.

p.s. I think Wendell saw my post about CHIkanda Forever :D

Can MPJ fall far enough for the Bulls to pkg a player and trade up from 22 to get him?

He's not Taj Gibson. Watching 1 game of his will let you know that. Gibson entered the league as an old one-way big, who was still figuring out his offensive game.

Carter is a two-way big right now, and has a versatile offensive game.

#1 really?

I know he has a high floor but his poetential that high? I didn't watch a lot of Duke games.

Taj was 23 entering the league. Taj is 6'9.

WCJ is 19, he's 6'10 with a 7'4 wingspan.

Not even close to a decent comp. This board is trash.

Taj Gibson now is a rotation player and that’s it. He has offense and defense, does nothing great but works hard. That is Taj Gibson. So Taj when he was a rookie or Taj now - doesn’t move the goddamn needle nor does it have a good chance to. They just drafted a role player.

I like WCJ as a player. High floor. Well-rounded. Good physicals. Just a low ceiling. He's been my pick at 7 if Bamba was gone, and if MPJ's medicals aren't up to par.

That said, my frustration is the Bulls inability to tank correctly. Should have dealt Niko/Lopez, much earlier, perhaps in the off-season. Additionally, it wasn't worth playing Niko much, to get the #22 pick. Rather get a top 5 pick. They won't tank correctly next year. Need talent with a high ceiling.

I like the pick-he and Lauri should be a good match. Plus, look at it this way. We could win 40 next year, and Carter is more ready to contribute than Porter. How about we bring Butler back, and he likes that we have a front court in place?

Dunn
Lavine
Butler
Lauri
Carter

Bench of Payne?, Nwaba, Valentine, Portis-not a bad team, plus the #22 this year and our 2019 pick

If you're not excited about this pick you simply haven't done enough research...
