His coaching ability was cringe-inducingly crude, I have no doubt he possessed a unrefined palate as well. Chef probably prepping Michelin star sashimi and Jimbo threw a blow-out tantrum for some bagel bites.

Back in June when all of those articles were written about HC candidates - was Wes Unseld Jr. ever mentioned? He's interviewed one time for a Head Coaching job (Cavs last season) - and I can't remember if anyone brought him up previously. Interesting that he's one of three names mentioned now.

I just have to note a side aspect to this that I haven't seen mentioned.

Paxson really liked Boylen. He was the one who promoted him and gave him an extension. Once he stepped down he made it very clear he thought AK should give Boylen a shot.

If this is any indication, Paxson has minimal influence in the organization right now.

.........

I would also say that AK is probably pretty thorough and deliberate in how he approaches things. I suspect this is going to piss off the "instant gratification" section of the fanbase for his entire tenure.

It does make me wonder about the recent press on retaining Boylen for financial reasons. Was it a leak to force Reinsdorf's hand? :-)

I do, he's trash.

Just goes to show how bad GarPaxDorf were in their evaluation of head coaching and hiring process. They wanted Boylen bad and touted him hard

Bulls’ future is much less cloudy now... let’s bring in a coach focused on player development

The Bulls have had very disappointing coaching since the dynasty. Boylen was my second favorite after Thibbs which says a lot. Hopefully we can find someone even better than Thibbs. Thibbs has really been the only good head coach we've had in 22 years smh.

That’s BS they didn’t evaluate anything. Boylen has been done for a while now. Paxson would of even fired him earlier if he wasn’t stepping down. When AK came there was no way Boylen had any chance to stay.

They had so much time and simply wanted to fire him once the regular season officially ended. AK didn’t want to look like the bad guy firing the coach immediately and acted like he gave him a chance.

He could be thorough or this could be a byproduct of having extra time to do this type of evaluation due to COVID. We'll find out, but ultimately all that matters is that he makes the right decisions. I don't care if he's fast or slow, I want results.

Kinda feels like ak just said "I'm the captain of this ship" so let him steer it!! Was hating this feeling of new front office but same ole politics. Feels like its a new sheriff in town.

my instinct is to post lol @ everyone who freaked out about the significance of boylen not being fired before the season even ended

but today is a happy day, and i just want to congratulate everyone who survived a truly dire era. now, onto what will hopefully be a marginally less dire era

Eh I don’t think Paxson liked him that much. Sure he gave him the chance to coach but one of the main reasons why he chose Boylen was that he would be a puppet and was cheap since they were still paying Hoibergs ridiculous contract. If Paxson was still in charge I’m sure he would of done the same thing, to fire him. It was a disappointing season, this needed to be done.

Yeah, this is too weird of a time and season to make any kind of judgement on something like that. I don't think we can read much into it other than he doesn't rush into anything when it isn't necessary. There was no real impetus to do this any sooner.

Hmm I admit I was wrong Boylen was not fired but AK probably very reluctantly did it amid huge pressure from the owner and Pax.
Now, if he makes single big mistake I can see his role getting reduced or fired bc hes about to make Jerry very uncomfortable by spending tens of millions extra money. He better find hidden gems like mpj bol from yr1.

he gets taken down for arguing with the team chef
