It's not a great trade, but considering there were talks that we had to attach picks to get out of his contract, and instead we only had to send out a second means that Zach's play this season helped in that regard. Lets not forget that, his value around the league was THAT bad.
And people viewing that the Bulls didn't get a pick in this trade is wrong, being handcuffed to another team for control of a pick is essentially not having a draft pick, 3 seasons is an eternity in the NBA. So to finally not have to worry about standings and retain that pick, and also having the ability to trade the pick if there is an opportunity, is a positive.
That all said, there are players that need to go out, meaning that the ramifications of this trade is still not fully complete, so I won't judge this trade as a whole just yet, because we could still get a few seconds coming our way, but as it stands right now, we are the clear losers out of the 3 parties involved, but being honest with myself, I wasn't hoping for much out of Zach either, though I know many were getting their hopes up due to his play this season.
If we end up with our pick back, and are able to flip some of additional players for a handful of seconds, and possibly a first with Vuc (even if it's a late first round pick), I take it and move forward with a clean rebuild. At least now we FINALLY have a clear direction for this franchise, as opposed to being stuck in no-mans land.
I will say though, if they end up just waiving 2 players to complete the trade, and there are no additional moves by the trade deadline, the front office just adds another reason as to why they shouldn't be part of the Bulls franchise, let alone any other NBA franchise. Because all of these trades they have done recently, getting less value than they could have, is completely on them and not making moves when the iron is hot, and over and over again, keeping a hold of players way too long.
Why so serious?
