Nobody gets contributors out of the G League. This link is titled All-Time NBA G League Call Ups and Jordan Bell is on it like six times.

We're talking about two-way contracts, not G League call ups. Two totally different things, and yes, teams do occasionally get contributors out of them too.

My mistake. Even still there's only ever been 10-12ish notable players ever signed from a 2-way. And that's league wide over the course of nine seasons, as you mentioned.

Seems like an unfair criticism of AK.

I wasn't even asking for notable, just a fringe rotation guy. It's a low bar. It's not an unfair criticism, it just isn't as important as other things in the big picture.

Use Vucevic/Collins/Huerter/Ayo in conjunction with Coby and get a guy with a higher ceiling than Coby. Period.

Make that big push for Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, Zion, Jimmy Butler (Yes, Jimmy Butler!), Gobert in that order. I'd give up one of Giddey or Matas if that's what it took to get Booker. probably miss all those shots. I'd take them before I made another trade.

An interesting question would be if Pat plays better, will we still want to move on from him? I really wonder that one.

It depends on how much better. We seemingly just drafted his replacement and traded for a similar player who makes considerably less than he does.

If he gets back to the player he used to be? Hopefully, that'll be enough to boost his trade value so we can get some small value for him.

Theres no reason to rush to pay Jones. I can't see a team even offering him the MLE. PG is such a deep position and there are vets to be had for the minimum.

The Davion Mitchell contract seems to be his ceiling.

IMO it's gonna be tough get "good Pat". Other than injuries, Billy's forcing Pat to play a bigger role on offense is what went wrong for Pat. Pat was asked to be a ball handler and paint scorer/dunker...those are things that he just can't do, and I think getting guys to stop doing those sorts of things is really hard.

The only way his trade value would make a difference is if he significantly improves into a level he never reached before.

If he plays just lil better then what difference does that make to other teams? They already know who PWill is, what he can do and what his value is.

Bulls aren’t going to trick anyone into trading for PWill and his contract just because he plays better for a couple of months lol, teams aren’t dumb.

I really hope AK can find a trade for him now. No reason to wait. I’m 95% certain his value will never rise more than it is now, if anything it can decrease since we all know he is also an injury prone player.

I'm not sure they could get any of those guys. There's no cost to trying. Butler has spent the last chunk of his career making young guys look better. Gobert is one of the best, if not the best, defensive centers in the league. Both are high level defensive players that wouldn't be in Giddey or Matas or Noa for that matter way, and have a couple of years left.

Of course cost is a factor, and they were down lower on my list. But we have a LOT of expiring contracts, we'd be sending three players probably for Butler and two for Gobert. Don't think we would even need to send picks to get Gobert, Vucevic and Patrick Williams might do it since they just re-signed Naz Reid. We also open up one or two more roster spots to add a good free agent(s) now.

What Jimmy and Gobert would bring to the young guys I think would be well worth it for the two years while Matas and Noa get their weight up. Matas is still only a second year player. It's not easier to grow on a losing team just because you get more opportunities. You're also playing every game with nobody on the court accountable to teach and lead offense/defense. We have the young leading the young.

Of course we're likely to miss on Booker and Brown. Those are going to be high demand guys, there's always going to be competition to get them. Take your shots. Find out what the price is. If they all miss, re-visit during the season or next year.

I don’t care about rushing or what the tactic is but just don’t lose him. Not rushing can result in him signing elsewhere. I would prefer they sign him now before FA begins.

He's nothing special though. Not really a big deal to lose him. And I am saying that as somebody who was pleasantly surprised by his play.

Well, if we're adding Devin Booker, Zion or Jaylen Brown, don't see a drop in scoring, since the hope was that Matas and Giddey's shots increase anyway. Collins was scoring pretty damn well, and he's likely starting at center with a Coby/Vucevic trade if he doesn't go.

Booker/Collins or Brown/Collins likely scores as much/more than Coby/Vucevic with better defense. If Collins goes too, Huerter likely stays, he's a scorer too.

Vuc to Boston for Simons could make sense for both teams. Boston would get their starting center for one season and save money to resign other guys, while the Bulls get another scoring guard(also expiring contract) to pair with Giddey.

Makes more sense for the Bulls if they moved on from Coby as well, replaced him with Simons and whoever else they get, (another center)?. Or they can simply keep both Coby and Simons and let them both chuck 3s all game long lol.

I think it would be a season too early. I'd like to have Giddey and Matas try to grow into bigger roles this season to help us assess what our big need is. That said, Butler or Gobert are too old to bother with, given where we are. The are 2 season contributors max. Not worth the big asset give-up.

My bet has been AK does this move at this deadline to use all his expirings.

While I think you are probably right, I will say, there are some really dumb GMs right now.

If there is a point to get out of his deal at any point we should take it.

As long as he doesn't let them expire. I think Portland traded for Jrue to bring some of that veteran know how, ability to win, defensive toughness to aid their young guys. I knocked the trade but as far as team dynamics and team growth, I think it could pay huge dividends. Until we have a superstar, I'm taking shots every year. In the draft AND trade market. New plan in case we can't get one of those guys:

Trade Vucevic for Anfernee Simons.
Trade Anfernee Simons to Phoenix for Jalen Green. Phoenix saves some money, we get the better guard.
Trade Coby for Derrick Lively or Gafford and a first.
Re-sign Tre Jones
Buyout Jevon Carter

Giddey/Jones
Jalen green/Huerter/Terry
Okoro/Ayo/Phillips
Matas/Wiiliams/Essengue
Lively/Collins/Smith

One spots left for a free agent. Got much younger at SG and center, maintained flexibility.

He’s not special but I think he’s the perfect back up PG to have. Better than Ayo and he can even start when needed.

I wouldn’t want to over pay for him either obviously.
We ll see what happens, the latest news was that Bulls goal is to bring him back.

he kind of was special for us last season

super small sample size and you can't expect him to maintain that production, but...he was really really good in those 18 games
