Speaking of Parsons, wouldn't his contract kick in first before Houston can sign Melo?

Could it be Rondo?

Now that would be a good move.

Rondo and a solid PF would make them a better team than redundant scorers.
Scottie Pippen's response to whom he would pick for his running mate, Michael or LeBron: "That's a dumbass question. I've never done anything with LeBron. I wouldn't take LeBron to the movies."

Well, he's certainly swinging for the fences. I'm guessing his pitch will be more than "player to be named". Its Lebron. Gotta give the guy credit for going big. Don't think it'll work but whatever.
Honesty is my only excuse.

They don't have to sign him immediately, but there would be a cap hold.

Oh yes the 80's. The good old days when Chicago would give out "accurate" numbers of shootings/murders in the city.

I don't care about murders per se. I care about the totality of violence. In fact, that article says more people have been shot. So maybe people get to the hospital quicker or technology is saving lives.

Our doctors have become EXTREMELY advanced. Yes they have saved many many lives, and they're becoming more and more efficient at it.

(Also why I'm so optimistic about D.Rose's ailments btw :D )

If the Bulls can restructure Noah's performance bonus, and assuming the only way to get Melo is through signing him outright, the Bulls can offer a starting salary of $18M. The only ones in the roster will be Rose, Noah, Taj, and McDermott. Bulls can get a player like Sefolosha using the Room Exception to replace Jimmy.

Did you guys catch this from Frank Isola's article?

"Gibson's presence is also significant because it has previously been reported that the Bulls would attempt to trade Gibson in order to create additional salary-cap space for Anthony. However, the Bulls stressed to Anthony that in order to be a legitimate title contender it is important for the club to retain both Gibson and Jimmy Butler.

According to a source, Anthony wants both players to stay even if it means that Anthony will have to sign for significantly less than the maximum the Knicks can offer, $129 million over five years."

"The Bulls gave Anthony a tour of their brand new training facility, which is being built across the street from the United Center. Anthony was said to be impressed by the state-of-the art facility but is more intrigued by the idea that the Bulls can compete for a title right away.

A source close to Anthony maintains that he is reluctant to spend another year rebuilding, especially after the Knicks won just 37 games last season."

Hahn wrote:I really wish the Bulls showed Carmelo the video on youtube of Harden playing "defense" . Then show a side by side comparison with Joakim,Taj, or Jimmy playing defense. The choice is yours Melo

That and remind him again that the Bulls are in the Leastern Confrence

But seriously, if this about winning, every independent analyst,coach/former coach, player/former players(See Rondo)...you name it........knows that Melo on the Bulls is downright scary and that Chicago is the place to be to immediately contend for titles without any of his Stardom taking a hit

Well..they exploited our one weakness yesterday.

We really could only get his ass here in a van? A freakin' van?! :banghead:

You know we saving the limo for when we trade for Ricky Ledo 8-)

Now we're talking.

I've got a man on the inside who says Ledo's been working behind the scenes all year talking up the Bulls to all the players in the league. I heard he came to the meeting yesterday and took part in Derrick's workout...

There is growing concern around the league that Ledo mopping the floor with Derrick left a sour taste in Melo's mouth, but Ricky took both Melo and LaLa back to the crib after dinner and gave 'em a little something to make them want more of the Chi.

And you guys didn't want him.

LarsV8 wrote:Some good info about our pitch:

The Rockets, however, have confidence in their message and presentation, combining the successful pitch to Dwight Howard last summer with the $7 million worth of new facilities stuffed assorted state-of-the-art bells and whistles that have been geared to put on a show.

There will be some similarities in the presentation Anthony saw in Chicago and will receive in Houston. The Bulls had Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson offer some of their recruiting pitch and shared details of their planned new training facility to be built across the street.

The Rockets will have Howard and James Harden in on the presentation and will make Anthony the first free agent to tour the new basketball operation and training facilities, which were completed after free agency recruiting had ended last season.

When Anthony arrives in the lockerroom, in addition to the show on the video boards that circle the locker room, there will be a life-sized poster of Anthony in a Rockets’ uniform holding the championship trophy. The book the Rockets annually provide (and also have prepared for LeBron James and Chris Bosh, if need be) features Anthony on the cover, also with the trophy, and featured throughout along with information about living in Houston geared toward him.

As with last season’s pitch to Howard, the bulk of the presentation will focus on the Rockets contention that with Anthony, they would be ready to contend. That would include how they will continue to build the roster after clearing the cap room to make Anthony a near-max offer. The Rockets can make a considerably larger offer than the Bulls, but cannot come close to the maximum, $130 million contract Anthony could earn by remaining with the Knicks.

That's good stuff. But my question is what do you all think of Melo as a fit for your team? To those of us on the outside it appears defense is your biggest flaw, offensively you re set as it. I'm not sure how Melo fits with Harden, Parsons, and Howard? I would think you could target Lowry and Gasol and role with Lowry, Harden, Parsons, Gasol, and Howard.

That is correct but his old contract was so small that the cap number won't be significant. Making Parsons an RFA was a choice the Rockets willingly made so he won't be interfering with their pursuit of Melo at all.

Got it.

So basically, they're gonna have Melo play PF.

How does that work financially?

And how does that work on the basketball court? Everyone gets 10 shots a game?

Daryl Morey is a dumbass, he just does things without thinking about how to construct an actual team

he's like a gambling addict or something

That team probably still does not come close to making it out of the West. At least the East would still be up for grabs for us.

God, I'm sick of hearing about the van. I'm sure it was a very luxuriously appointed van, and quite frankly, probably much more comfortable for all of the tall guys!
