I'm going with "Melo did not call Gasol", but I'm certain Phil Jackson did.

It still comes down to whether or not Melo wants to win. He's not going to win in NY. I don't care who they have in the FO, you can't make 2-2nd round picks and Jose Calderon all-stars. They also have no center anymore. That team is going to suck this year, next year and possibly for the next 5-10 years. Sure, they have cap space next season. Guess who else has cap space? The Lakers. Guess who isn't signing anyone with all that cap space? The Lakers. Why is it any different in NY? It's not. They suck and no one is going there.

Again, if Melo wants to win, he'll come to Chicago. If he wants money, he'll stay in NY. However, if he stays in NY, he better not ever say again that he wants to win more than he wants money because it's bull.

I just read via Chi Bulls Rumors that NY can only offer Pau the MMLE.

Obviously New York suck as it is, but for Gasol to take that money would be ridiculous.

Seriously, for that money, both of them could come to Chicago and then some.

Just curious what Bulls fans are willing to give up in a trade to land Melo. Phil just isnt going to let him go for peanuts. Already turned away Boozer. Realistic trade offer to get a deal done. Go.

Gasol connection to Phil.

Melo has been in NY. That's why.

Pau showed him his rings and reminded Melo that he knows what a championship team looks like. And it ain't New York. Or L.A. either, which is why he's getting the hell out.

I know. It's laughable. He'd start at 3.2 mil...LOL. And, no, Melo didn't call him and embarrass himself. That BS doesn't even make any sense. You don't recruit someone during your FA tour and when you're not even sure where you're going--especially to ask the guy to sign for 3.2 million dollars...lol

If push comes to shove, which it wont because Melo is taking the money and running--Mirotic, MDJ, Snell. Possibly a first rounder. Which is more than enough to get it done. Its probably over paying. Its all dependent on Melo. Always was.

Its really dumb. You're not only asking him to take a paycut, but to also join a team that sucks and cant make the playoffs in the east. That in itself is more of a difficult obstacle than the salary the Knicks could offer.

Knicks didn't turn away anyone.

Phil can't stop Melo from leaving.

So that justifies him taking a ridiculously small offer (3 mil compared to 8-10 mil on the open market), and to be on a team not even good enough to contend?

Wow, didn't know that. Pau to NYK is looking less and less likely now.
