It is awfully funny that every time a guy Bulls fans lusted after becomes available via trade or FA that they tend to not be wanted any longer.
Happened with Melo and now Jabari.

I remember when just a few years back people were plotting ways to save cap space to bring Jabari in as the superstar FA signing.

Same folks who hated the drafting Lauri Markkanen pick and Wendell Carter jr.

Or, didn't want to trade Butler unless it was for a unreasonable haul.

Pretty much. "This would be a great idea, we should do this."
*Front office does it later on*
"What the hell is wrong with GarPax? They need to be fired for this dumb crap. The player is not even worth that."

I'll admit, a lost a load of respect for him when he lost his cool and punched out a teammate, but ever since he was drafted by the Bulls, I've supported him, so much in fact that I thought we should have traded Niko sooner to enable Bobby more opportunities to grow as a player. But regardless of what has happened, he has overcome and made tremendous progress. He may never be an All-star, but he can be a very important player to a high quality team.

I don't think he will remain a Bull past this season unfortunately though, he will eventually want a bigger role, a bigger pay check, and I'll wish him nothing but the best, but I'll continue to root for him. I love when people can be self deprecating and have a laugh, I think it's a great trait to have as a person.

I actually like Bobby Portis. He always plays hard and he accepts his role. He knows Lauri is the starter and future star of the team so he wants to be the 6th man of the year.

This upcoming season, yes. But he isn't going to want a bench role for the remainder of his career. He is too young, and actually deserves a bigger role somewhere else, and teams will be able to provide that to him.

Tbh we don’t know what he wants , he very well could be happy with being a 6th man his career . Crawford was , if Portis loves it in Chicago and the group of guys and think they could win a title in the future I could see him being here awhile.

Crawford was only a 6th man once he was in his 30's - which is my point, young players up coming players want to start, and it's not a bad thing, you want these kids to be driven and accepting a 6th man role isn't something that Bobby should be aiming for long term.

Crawford had inconsistent seasons coming off the bench and starting until he turned 29 and got Atlanta and strictly became a 6th man . Crawford only had 4 starting years in his 18 seasons. 1 with the Bulls , 2 full with the Knicks and then 11 games with NY and 54 with Golden state before the most to atl.

Like I said Portis could want to be more but he also could he comfortable doing what he’s doing now you never know Cuz we aren’t that guy. Also there is nothing wrong with a being an annuals 6th man of the year candidate they have a big place in this league along with starters who could also suck.

Happiness is all that matters in the end. Some chase money, some chase opportunity, and others chose the environment they work/live. It's all relative.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Never lost any respect for Bobby. If you lunge at someone, you deserve to get knocked out. Ideally the situation never happens to begin with but what's done is done.
He brings fire and intensity to the bench and is obviously well loved by his teammates and the front office.

This season is going to be fun. Could be Pacers like if LaVine or Parker emerge.

How about Michael Beasley? If Nwaba isn’t resigned then he might be a decent backup option to Parker as a 3/4 guy.

Only way I see the Bulls signing Okafor is if we trade Felicio or Lopez. If we trade Felicio we have to add an asset maybe a pick.

I feel like I’m being a bit harsh on Okafor, but Felicio and Okafor are about equal.

:o

Okafor actually has talent unlike Felicio. Okafor put up 17 and 8 his rookie year. He got hurt and never got his confidence back. I think he could still reach his potential with the right team.

I would Def rather have okafor over felicio.

I just don't see the minutes for okafor, unless he is insurance for a injured guy.

You have to trade RoLo, or waive Felicio/Asik if you want to bring in Okafor. Way too many centers on this roster.
