AOC and her progressive party I can only expect will start turning on Biden once they realize Biden is going to give them next to nothing they want. It's clear to me Biden is just going to pick off where Obama left off as the majority would want this.

Worth noting here that Nanci is going to lose over a dozen house seats which will flip red once the votes are fully tallied. Pretty rare for a sitting president to win house seats back. Need to get someone else in charge as speaker of the house.

To be fair, that's American capitalism.

Its not.

It's what has become of American capitalism.

blatantly disingenuous statistic

march 18 was nearly the bottom of the stock market crash

the vast majority of investors are doing better since march 18, not just the billionaires. the question is how the billionaires are doing since FEBRUARY 18. and the answer is probably "marginally better." just like the stock market. there are very obvious reasons why jeff bezos and zuckerberg are wealthier due to the pandemic, and there's nothing systemic about it

what's fair to discuss is why wall street is so disconnected from main street right now

i think that AOC and the far left will be more busy arguing with mainstream democrats about why the party didn't do better in the congressional races. i think they know that biden can't do a whole lot without 50 democratic senators (which could yet happen)

if the dems DO somehow seat 50 senators, they need to go scorched earth by nuking the filibuster and passing bold health care and climate change legislation. and expand the supreme court. they have every justification for doing so. the last straw was the merrick garland treatment

again using the wrong starting date. it is not remotely interesting that a lot of people who LOST a ton of money in the first month of the pandemic have then made it back (and then some) as the market rallied strong

jeff bezos is the head of a shipping company. unsurprisingly he has done very well with people staying home. mark zuckerberg has benefitted from people spending more time on facebook while staying home...and his company has been rapidly growing for years. elon musk...well, let's just say that his business does not cater to the average joe...and his company had just begun its rapid growth when the pandemic hit. all the rest of the people on that list have benefitted to a similar degree as the average investor since the market bottomed out

And why would they do that? Biden holds the reins of power now- if they want anything, they need to work with him, not separate themselves. The progressives will continue to try to win more seats and add to their numbers. Their influence will be felt in things like congressional committee work, as we saw recently when the woman from Orange County grilled Big Pharma CEO's on their obscene profit margins.

I don't think she's been very effective. We'd have a stimulus deal if she wanted one. The white house has offered 1.8 trillion. They just won't give additional state funding. Could have easily passed it and if Joe got elected, tried for a state deal or additional stimulus deal.

LOL. The definition of "talk is cheap".

There's a reason civil wars just don't happen anymore in developed countries. Everyone simply has way too much to lose - even the poor people.

Also, the cynical worldview we see everywhere these days (case in point, the "fraud" the Trump cult keeps yelling about) cuts both ways. In order to get a huge number of people to start something as drastic as a civil war or a large scale armed insurrection, you really have to make them BELIEVE that achieving the goal is literally worth risking their own lives.

Would the Trump cult die for their idol? HELL NO. It's just posturing. They like their trucks, HD TV's and fast food - in short, their lives - way too much.

There will be no civil war, there will be no pro-Trump riots. In fact, it remains to be seen if even Trump himself has the energy to keep causing trouble. He's an old man, and although he's addicted to publicity and "winning", the lure of golf is strong. I wouldn't be shocked if we heard very little from him over the next couple of months.

What Forbes doesn't include is the wealthy that stay very private. In it for themselves. At least the ones above create jobs and technology to help society. There are others who do more damage than they help and making millions/billions in the process.

I don't think you realize what is to come here.

There are so many demographic groups in America compared to before. They all want major changes. The reason they went out to vote Biden over Trump was they were hopeful certain things can happen under a Biden administration. The reality is Biden in no way can offer all these path to citizenships, boost immigration, help the black community, help the progressives, help the poor community. It's just not possible and they're expecting so much from him while at the same time Biden is getting big dollars from donors in wall street pushing him into office which we all know that means Biden promised there would be minor changes under his administration.

Some are already getting negative about a Biden administration but give it more time these groups will start turning on Biden as well. For me personally, if I was in Bidens shoes I would focus in certain areas being the citizens of this country 1st and then once major progress has been made, then focus on non citizens after that. If you try to do too many things, next to nothing will get done.
