Look what we did without Rose. If you add Melo to that roster, we are in the ECF's for sure, if not the finals.

Some other poster mentioned this in a previous Melo thread - and I think most of the Bulls board is missing this angle.

It doesn't need to be the Bulls who need to get to max cap space. All we need is for one other team that has max cap space that would offer Melo max money to sign outright - and a team that Melo would sincerely be willing to go to, as an option 1b.

Enter the Lakers.

While the Lakers cannot put together as good a team as the Bulls for next year, you have to believe that they are certainly able to get better than NY - and that's all it takes.

Melo goes to Phil:
Either work out a S&T to the Bulls (for max or near max money) or I go to the Lakers.

As I've said all along, Plan B isn't bad for the Bulls, but they clearly needed a big-time scorer such as Anthony. The Bulls feel they have a good rapport with Anthony's agent. Leon Rose. They'll need it this weekend.

Not really tbh. They had 54 wins the year before. They weren't top tier by any means but had a great year. In the east they make the playoffs with a new coach and Calderon just as a boost in the arm. Contention? Meh no way but playoffs yes. The east is awful. Heat, Indiana, bulls, Washington growing and then what?

MDJ was a very good shooter last season for us and is on a VERY respectable deal compared to the money being handed around this off-season. It'll be hard to pickup shooters the way the market's trending.

I guess that bodes well for his trade value, though.
